carloselectro
Hi, How can I read the output from an autoit script within excel VBA? I run the script from excel and I'd like to be able to retrieve the variable returned by autoit. I could put the variable into the clipboard and read it back from VBA but I'm looking for a nicer way to do it. Any ideas?

water
What's the datatype of the expected variable? If it is numeric you could assign the return value of the AutoIt script to a variable. mLipok
Thanx, but all I see is reading data from excel. I need the other way around.I want to read data from the autoit script. I do not understand you. You want to read data from excel or from AutoIt Script ? Maybe you want to use AutoIt variable to save them into a excel sheet ? edit: typo Edited April 8, 2014 by mLipok Signature beginning:* Please remember: "AutoIt"..... * Wondering who uses AutoIt and what it can be used for ? * Forum Rules ** ADO.au3 UDF * POP3.au3 UDF * XML.au3 UDF * IE on Windows 11 * How to ask ChatGPT for AutoIt Code * for other useful stuff click the following button: Spoiler Any of my own code posted anywhere on the forum is available for use by others without any restriction of any kind. carloselectro
I want to read data coming from a compiled autoit script executed from excel. The variable is a string. If I could just grab the autoit variable directly from vba it would be great, otherwise saving into a cell could do.
water
Unfortunately the AutoIt Exit statement only allows to set numeric values. So you need to store the value in an Excel cell and process it by VBA. carloselectro
I finally did it by writing to the registry with autoit and reading it back in excel: Autoit: $result = RegWrite("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Environment", "Asterisk-Email", "REG_SZ", $sEmail) If $result = 1 Then EnvUpdate() EndIf Excel VBA: Dim wshShell As Object Dim strEntry As String strEntry = "HKCU\Environment\Asterisk-Email" Set wshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Email_From_LDAP = wshShell.RegRead(strEntry)
