AutID Posted April 10, 2014 Share Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) Hello, Is there an other way to reset the variable to it's started value other than this in the example below? Global $a_range = IniRead("file.ini", "test", "Perso", 0) ; returns a number _ChangeValue() ConsoleWrite("Value after my function = " & $a_range & @CRLF) Func _ChangeValue() ConsoleWrite("Value before = " & $a_range & @CRLF) $a_range = 456 ConsoleWrite("Value after = " & $a_range & @CRLF) ;~ $a_range = IniRead("file.ini", "test", "Perso", 0) EndFunc Comment line Edited April 11, 2014 by AutID https://iblockify.wordpress.com/ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
JohnOne Posted April 10, 2014 Share Posted April 10, 2014 Multi dozens of ways. Here's one Global $a_range = IniRead("file.ini", "test", "Perso", 0) ; returns a number _ChangeValue($a_range) ConsoleWrite("Value after my function = " & $a_range & @CRLF) Func _ChangeValue(ByRef $val) ConsoleWrite("Value before = " & $a_range & @CRLF) $val = 456 ConsoleWrite("Value after = " & $a_range & @CRLF) ;~ $a_range = IniRead("file.ini", "test", "Perso", 0) EndFunc ;==>_ChangeValue AutoIt Absolute Beginners Require a serial Pause Script Video Tutorials by Morthawt ipify Monkey's are, like, natures humans. AutID Posted April 11, 2014 Author Share Posted April 11, 2014 Then please show me an other one because this way I know and I can't use it in my situation. I can not add the var in the functions params because it want always be called and not only 1 var is called. https://iblockify.wordpress.com/ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
BrewManNH Posted April 11, 2014 Share Posted April 11, 2014 While I would find it to be a ridiculous way to change the value of a variable, you could just change your original example to something like this. Global $a_range = IniRead("file.ini", "test", "Perso", 0) ; returns a number $a_range = _ChangeValue() ConsoleWrite("Value after my function = " & $a_range & @CRLF) Func _ChangeValue() Return 456 EndFunc Of course I find the whole idea rather ridiculous because if you want to change the value of a variable, just reassign it, no need for a function at all. Global $a_range = IniRead("file.ini", "test", "Perso", 0) ; returns a number $a_range = 456 If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. Reassigning it is what i am doing but reassign in my position is to read the ini again. That is why i am asking for an other solution. Global $a_range = IniRead("file.ini", "test", "Perso", 0) IniWrite("file.ini", "test", "Perso", 1) $a_range = IniRead("file.ini", "test", "Perso", 0) Could go on for quite some time. Express context. Go on because i want to avoid reassigning it again by using ini read at the end of each call of the function that changes its value. https://iblockify.wordpress.com/ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Weird because you said dozens of ways and besides that they are not correct, the correct one is the same as mine so in fact you didn't guessed not even one. If someone feels that there is a solution on this please feel free to post. Edit: And sorry for misunderstanding the thread. There is something wrong in this thread. As i checked the 1st post i understood that it is me doing something wrong here. Edited the 1st post. What i am trying to do it to reset the value of the variable within a function and then reset it to it's started value which comes from an iniread. One way is to read the ini again at the end of the function(#post 1). So i am looking for another way. Edit: another way is in #post 2 but i cant use it. I cant add the var in the parameters of the function + i have more than 1 var. guinness Posted April 11, 2014 Share Posted April 11, 2014 Whoops I missed JohnOne's post. IniRead() returns a string by the way, so if you're storing a number then you should parse using Int() or Number(). As to your "issue" I don't know what the problem is.
