MrYdremark
Hi. I have some problems with, what I suspect is recursion. Generally what I’m doing is retrieving information about a window. Information like window title, all the text in the window and all the ClassnameNN and handles for the controls within it. I then start a loop and look for mouse clicks. If the mouse was clicked, I will save the coordinates of the mouse click, send it to a function that returns whether a control within the window was clicked and which it was, i.e. ClassnamNN. When that is done I get the text from the control. Like if it was a Button1 I might get the text “&Next >”. I then send some information to another function which checks if it was a next button, a close button or anything else. If it was, let’s say next, yet another function is called to get a unique sentence from the new window. As you might already have suspected it is an Installation wizard I’m working on. So when I’m at window 1 I have a title and some text. When I get to window 2 I have the same title but different text. I’m trying to automate this, or make a script of actions made during an installation. So I need to get some unique text out of the window. Anyway, It works a bit unstable and I suspect I have an error somewhere. If I “pause” (Don’t click too fast) during the installation It works somewhat fine 90% of the time But if I’m too fast it doesn’t record the mouse clicks or it can’t manage to get the unique text. I don’t know if it might be a problem of recursion somewhere or something else. Does anyone know any good way to debug this? Maybe some tool that records time of each function. When It’s called and when it returns? Func RecordMouse() $title = WinGetTitle("") $text = WinGetText($title) $result = WinGetControls($title) For $i = 1 To UBound($result, 1) - 1 If StringInStr($result[$i][0], "progress") <> 0 Then _StringGetUnique($text) EndIf Next While 1 $title = WinGetTitle("") $text = WinGetText($title) If _IsPressed("01") Then $MousePos = MouseGetPos() $clickedItem = _MouseClickItem($MousePos[0], $MousePos[1], $result) $ctrlText = ControlGetText("", "", $clickedItem) _ButtonClicked($clickedItem, $ctrlText, $text, $title) ExitLoop ElseIf _IsPressed("1B") Then CloseAFile() Exit EndIf Sleep(100) WEnd RecordMouse() EndFunc

MrYdremark
$hTimer = TimerInit() ;Put your Func Between timer funcs MsgBox(0,"","5 seconds to close window!",5) $iDif = TimerDiff($hTimer) ConsoleWrite("***=" & $iDif & "=***" & @CRLF);in milliseconds Hmm.. it seems to only run the first operation (to start an installation wizard). Then i can't see any more output. Is it F5 in SciTE ? I have several script files that is included so the main file doesn't get so big. Would this be a problem? MrYdremark
You have a never ending recursion (unless you close the program) Func RecordMouse() .. .. .. RecordMouse() EndFunc Why you use this function in this way ? Well. That is a good question. I think my original idea was that the function would retrieve information about the window once, start the while loop and check for mouse clicks. In that way avoid getting window information all the time within the loop. And if the if statement within the while loop is true then do stuff, exit the loop and retrieve new information. Maybe this is a bad idea? I want it to “run” constantly to record the mouse and then terminate it when done.
