Moderators Melba23 Posted May 11, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 11, 2014 Darien,First question: why are you adding the file and what do you want to do with it? Moderators Melba23 Posted May 11, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 11, 2014 Darien,Which is why I asked - you should look at using FileInstall which makes the whole thing very much simpler. Darien
fileinstall will unzip the file to a folder that can be deleted. besides, I have to delete it when the program finished.
Moderators Melba23 Posted May 11, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 11, 2014 Darien,And so? it is much easier to do this than use the file from the resource table. But if you insist on that route than Zedna's excellent Resources UDF (which you can find here) is what you need. This is more complicated to use, but allows you to use files stored in your .exe without having to copy them onto the user's machine. Obviously it requires more effort from you - but that is your choice. However, if you want to use this UDF you MUST read the Resources thread carefully and try out the examples - the UDF is not difficult to use, but if you do not take the trouble to learn how to use it properly, you will have problems.Personally I would recommend using FileInstall - if you can get what you want that way it is far simpler.
