AutoIT on windows xp home edition doesn't work [SOLVED]

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I had a programm which tests if backups are coppied in several places. I put this programm onto one computer which has windows xp home edition, but that exe file didn't launch. I tried to run a smaller script, where was only one msgbox.... And even then it didn't display that...

Is that windows fault or could it be my fault too?

Tried to restart computer, that didn't work either..

EDIT:  Forgot to mention that I cannot run script as script (there is not AutoIT installed...), I can only compile and then send it there...

Thanks in advance! :)

You need to give us more information!

Which version of AutoIt do you use?

Do you see the script.exe in the task manager?

Are there any entries in the eventlog?

No, I do not see anything in task maneger about my exe file..

I'm sorry, in what eventlog?

Try to disable Antivirus software on target XP machine.

Okay, I'll try, but cannot do this today, I'll try this later..

Thanks for your time! :)

Windows Eventlog. Open command line and run eventvwr.

Ok, I tried to open it, but didn't see anything about my programm. There were only errors about WinVNC4 (and sorry, forgot to say, that I can't be directly at this pc - now I am using vnc, but I think that doesn't change anything...)

Try to disable Antivirus software on target XP machine.

Tried, application didn't run either :(

Really don't know what to do...

Got everything working.. And only what I did was changing autoit version for compiling. (Didn't test with every version, but with 3.3.8.0 everything was fine)

EDIT: ahh, sorry, only now from change log I read: (for v3.3.10.2)

  • Fixed #2576: All AutoIt EXEs and tools not working on older Athlon XP processors due to SSE compiler options.

I guess sometimes change logs are more useful than you think :D

But anyway - thanks everyone for help! ;)
