AutoIT seeing a folder as empty.

Hiya guys, 

I have a simple script but am encountering a problem I can't get round. 

I am using FileFindFirstFile, but its returning 1 showing the folder is empty. I've used DirSize and checked it can find the contents and that works fine, so wondering if there is an issue with how the wildcard is specifying the search.

To be honest I'm not 100% sure but suspect it is a NAS shared folder. But the DirGetSize still works.

Using version 3 I think.

Please look how FileFindFirstFile works. It just returns a handle which then can be used with FileFindNextFile.

If you just want to get a the files/directorys in this folder, just use

_FileListToArray

check it in this way:

just make a simple scirpt:

sleep(10)

run them in SciTe and put here console output

Can you add at the end of your script:

ConsoleWrite("Handle: " & $hSearch & @crlf & "Error: " & @error)

and put here console output?

Is @error returning 1 or the value retuned into $hSearch?

 

Success: a search "handle" for use with subsequent FileFindNextFile functions.

Failure: -1 if nothing is found. The value of the @error flag is set to 1 only if the Folder is empty.

As the output shows, you have no problems, @error is set to 0.

But you have to read FileFindNextFile documentation to understand how to continue the script

I remeber my problem with Wildcard on NAS: Why _FileListToArray('NAS DIRECTORY','*.rtf') -- returns 4

This may be related in some way. 

 

By the way, could you try your script with the latest BETA version.

Hiya guys, 

Thank you for all your input. But it was not an issue with my FileFindFirstFile after all (despite the fact it was returning 1). My script wasn't working because I hadn't set a flag in a different function (FileMove)...I was just troubleshooting the wrong place.

Apologies for the inconvenience, as ever thank you for your help nevertheless!

It's great that you got your script to work, but by now I hope you realize that if you had posted your complete code, or at least a reproduction of your script that produced the same error, it probably wouldn't have taken nearly a dozen shots (that all missed anyway) to hit the the target. Let me say again though, it's great that you got your script to work!
