locutus243
Hiya guys, I have a simple script but am encountering a problem I can't get round. I am using FileFindFirstFile, but its returning 1 showing the folder is empty. I've used DirSize and checked it can find the contents and that works fine, so wondering if there is an issue with how the wildcard is specifying the search. ---------------------------------------------------------- #include <MsgBoxConstants.au3> Global $output = "Y:Web ShopOutput" Global $output2 = "Y:Web ShopRenamed" Local $vSize = DirGetSize($output, 1) MsgBox(0, "Test", $vSize[1]) $size = FileGetSize($output & "01020102.jpg") MsgBox(0, "Test", $size) ; Assign a Local variable the search handle of all files in the current directory. Local $hSearch = FileFindFirstFile($output & "*.*") ------------------------------------------------------------ I appreciate if anyone can see something I'm missing here. Thanks Mark

locutus243
To be honest I'm not 100% sure but suspect it is a NAS shared folder. But the DirGetSize still works. Using version 3 I think.
PainTain
Please look how FileFindFirstFile works. It just returns a handle which then can be used with FileFindNextFile. If you just want to get a the files/directorys in this folder, just use _FileListToArray Edited July 29, 2014 by PainTain

mLipok
Using version 3 I think. check it in this way: just make a simple scirpt: sleep(10) run them in SciTe and put here console output Signature beginning:* Please remember: "AutoIt"..... * Wondering who uses AutoIt and what it can be used for ? * Forum Rules ** ADO.au3 UDF * POP3.au3 UDF * XML.au3 UDF * IE on Windows 11 * How to ask ChatGPT for AutoIt Code * for other useful stuff click the following button: Spoiler Any of my own code posted anywhere on the forum is available for use by others without any restriction of any kind. j0kky
Can you add at the end of your script: ConsoleWrite("Handle: " & $hSearch & @crlf & "Error: " & @error) and put here console output? Developers Jos Posted July 29, 2014 Developers Share Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) I know how FileFindFirstFile works, and am aware there is another way of doing this, but that doesn't explain why my current function is returning an value of 1. Is @error returning 1 or the value retuned into $hSearch? Success: a search "handle" for use with subsequent FileFindNextFile functions. Failure: -1 if nothing is found. The value of the @error flag is set to 1 only if the Folder is empty. j0kky
As the output shows, you have no problems, @error is set to 0. mLipok
To be honest I'm not 100% sure but suspect it is a NAS shared folder. Can you confirm, to be sure ? I remeber my problem with Wildcard on NAS: Why _FileListToArray('NAS DIRECTORY','*.rtf') -- returns 4 This may be related in some way. By the way, could you try your script with the latest BETA version. locutus243
Hiya guys, Thank you for all your input. But it was not an issue with my FileFindFirstFile after all (despite the fact it was returning 1). My script wasn't working because I hadn't set a flag in a different function (FileMove)...I was just troubleshooting the wrong place. Apologies for the inconvenience, as ever thank you for your help nevertheless! Mark
somdcomputerguy
It's great that you got your script to work, but by now I hope you realize that if you had posted your complete code, or at least a reproduction of your script that produced the same error, it probably wouldn't have taken nearly a dozen shots (that all missed anyway) to hit the the target. Let me say again though, it's great that you got your script to work! - Bruce /*somdcomputerguy */ If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
