Jos,

AFAICT in AutoIt3Wrapper v.14.727.1229.0 the #AutoIt3Wrapper_AutoIt3 directives permanently overrides the default program for subsequent runs (production or beta) until another #AutoIt3Wrapper_AutoIt3 directive is encountered. Well unless I missed something. I tried passing the value "" and nothing but to no avail.

Wasn't it your intention to change the program invoked only for the current run?

 Guess I am not very clear-headed this evening as I am not sure about this question either.

#AutoIt3Wrapper directives are telling AutoIT3wrapper what you want it to perform each time AutoIt3Wrapper is ran.

There is only one directive that runs one time which is " #AutoIt3Wrapper_Add_Constants=y" which is changed to "#AutoIt3Wrapper_Add_Constants=n" after one run.

So this particular directive tells AutoIt3Wrapper where it can find the AutoIt3.exe  program and will override the default Prod or Beta directory setting for the Run operation.

When using #AutoIt3Wrapper_AutoIt3Dir, you override the directory used for AutoIt3.Exe or Aut2Exe.exe.

Well it is the first time I used that directive and I believed it was a temporary override, just like the documentation clearly says.

So if I understand you well, using once this directive overrides the filepath forever. I guess the setting is hosted in some .ini or so. Can you tell me how I can revert to the default setting, with distinct filepaths for production and beta, 32- and 64-bit.

The Directive set the default only for the script containing this specific directive so the override is permanent for just this script.

You can change defaults in the AutoIt3Wrapper.ini file which is located in either the AUtoIt3Wrapper program directory or "%localappdata%AutoIt v3SciTEAutoIt3Wrapper".

The file SHOULD BE encoded as UTF8 with BOM to continue processing by AutoIt3Wrapper.   BUT
Au3check doesn't support input files encoded as UTF8 with BOM

This is correct. AU3CHECK does NOT support any UTF encoded files. AutoIt3Wrapper has a workaround for this limitation of au3check, but only for the main script, by copying it to a temp file before processing, But again: this is only for the Main script.

It is what it is until somebody puts the effort in to fix au3check.

I don't have any AutoIt3Wrapper.ini file in my whole disk subsystem. I also searched AutoIt3Wrapper.* < 1Mb modified after 07/21 (well before I tried the directive) and none showed up. I didn't find anything relevant in the registry either. So I wonder where the setting can live, but indeed, it persists for the few sources where I used the directive.

What exactly is happening? AutoIt3Wrapper points to a wrong directory?

If so could you show me the SciTE outputpane info when this happens?

One other thought: Have you changed au3.properties?

We can take this off-line in PM when you wish.

Jos,

Did you change any settings that removed the replace in buffers button, when doing a search and replace?

I have tried to update the SciTEGlobal.properties with some of the new stuff as that was not done for quite a while.

Checking for this option I seem to have reset it back to the default:

#find.replace.advanced=1

Just remove the # in front in SciTEGlobal.properties as I will do the same in my version for the next release.

Jos, I finally found the cause. This is a source file I use to test snippets for answering questions and it holds several sources appended separated by Exit. I didn't notice that one of the scripts I recently pasted there had that line hanging somewhere "deep inside":

#AutoIt3Wrapper_Version=b

Having that commented out fixed the problem. Sorry for bothering you, that was sneaky.

Learned something today too!

Looking further there are more Unicode characters ambiguously similar but they are all dedicated to distinct contexts:

U+0023    #   octothorp(e) (often used to denote "number" in us / en)

U+22D5   ⋕   is equal and parallel to (mathematical relationship)

U+2317      Viewdata square (used in Viewdata transmission)

U+266F    ♯   sharp (musical notation)

I just downloaded the latest non-beta of Scite4AutoIt3 zip and found inside of it a SciTEUser.properties file, that file needs to not be there otherwise it will overwrite my user preferences. Actually on second look, it appears that there are a couple of more files in there that probably shouldn't be, au3.UserUdfs.properties, au3.keywords.user.abbreviations.properties, au3UserAbbrev.properties and maybe userabbrev.properties. These all appear to be files that the user should use to set certain personal preferences, I could be mistaken about the last 3 or 4, but not about the first one.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

When using the zip file it is assumed to run portable and that means these files are in the right place for running it in that mode.
