Hylia
Hi guys, I'm currently making a GUI based program in which I put a lot of data in a lot of variables, is there an easy way to store a lot of variables in a .ini through the use of IniWrite("UserSettings.ini", "Name", "Name2", $variable) Here's the variables I want to save $Name[21] $Level[21] $HP[21] $Base_Attack_Bonus[21] $Initiative_Modifier[21] $Grapple_Mod[21] $Decrease_HP[21] $Increase_HP[21] $Comments[21] $STRtot[21] $DEXtot[21] $CONtot[21] $INTtot[21] $WIStot[21] $CHAtot[21] $STRmodi[21] $DEXmodi[21] $CONmodi[21] $INTmodi[21] $WISmodi[21] $CHAmodi[21] $FortTot[21] $FortBa[21] $FortAb[21] $FortMa[21] $FortMsc[21] $FortTmp[21] $ReflexTot[21] $ReflexBa[21] $ReflexAb[21] $ReflexMa[21] $ReflexMsc[21] $ReflexTmp[21] $WillTot[21] $WillBa[21] $WillAb[21] $WillMa[21] $WillMsc[21] $WillTmp[21] $Roll_log[21] $Armour_On[21] $Shield_On[21] $Touch_AC[21] $FF_AC[21] $ACglobal[21] $Armour_Bonus[21] $Shield_Bonus[21] $Seize_Modi[21] $Natural_Armour[21] $Deflection_Modi[21] $Misc_Mod[21] $D[22] $Dn[22] $Dt[22] $Weapon_Combo1[21] $Weapon_Combo2[21] $Weapon_Combo3[21] $Weapon_Combo4[21] $Attack_Bonus1[21] $Attack_Bonus2[21] $Attack_Bonus3[21] $Attack_Bonus4[21] $Damage_Dice1[21] $Damage_Dice2[21] $Damage_Dice3[21] $Damage_Dice4[21] $Crit_Data1[21] $Crit_Data2[21] $Crit_Data3[21] $Crit_Data4[21] $Range_Increment1[21] $Range_Increment2[21] $Range_Increment3[21] $Range_Increment4[21] $Damage_Type1[21] $Damage_Type2[21] $Damage_Type3[21] $Damage_Type4[21] $Note_Ammo1[21] $Note_Ammo2[21] $Note_Ammo3[21] $Note_Ammo4[21] $Low_Value[21] $High_Value[21] $Rnd_Result[21] $n_Value[21] $n_Result[21] $Current_Form[21] $RandomVar[21] $Roll_Tentacles[21] $ComboFive[25] $ComboSix[25] $Form_Number $Herp $k $hold $Result $Dused $lRoll $resultRandomizer $rNumber = 1 $Armour_Check_Penalty[21] $Shield_Check_Penalty[21] Or will I have to spend a lot of time writing out all my variables in that format? Thanks in advance! *Side Note: While it may look like this is for some kind of game automation, it is simply a GUI program for storing information for my friends and I when we're playing Dungeons & Dragons, this is not a computer game, however, if you do not believe me then I'm willing to post my entire program so far. Hylia
IniReadSection springs to mind I've tried IniWriteSection and it doesn't add anything in the .ini IniWriteSection(@DesktopDir & "Data.ini", "Data", $Name) Then when I look at Data.ini on my desktop it's completely empty, any idea why? BrewManNH
Is $Name a 2D array, or a string in the correct format? Morronic
Not sure exactly what you're trying to accomplish but I think you should check out the help section on For To Loops. Or Do While loops. $MyIni = "variables.ini" $i = 0 For $i = 0 To 4 Step + 1 IniWrite($MyIni, "TestSection", "Key" & $i, $i) Next Run("C:\Windows\notepad.exe " & $MyIni) An example of a For To loop. Hylia
Is $Name a 2D array, or a string in the correct format? All variables were declared like this: Global $Name[21] Not sure exactly what you're trying to accomplish but I think you should check out the help section on For To Loops. I already tried something like this it doesn't work for arrays it just gives me an error when I try IniWrite($MyIni, "Name", "Name" & $i, $Name[$i]) Edited August 31, 2014 by Hylia
Moderators Melba23 Posted August 31, 2014 Moderators Share Posted August 31, 2014 Hylia,You cannot store an array directly into an ini file, you can only store strings. I suggest that you use _ArrayToString to get the array content into that format before saving it. But remember that you will then need to use StringSplit to get the data back into array format when you read it back. BrewManNH
IniWriteSection NEEDS a 2D array or a delimited string, you're declaring $Name as a 1D array. It's not going to work with IniWriteSection. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day.
