Seminko
Hey fellas, I sure am pretty over my head but here goes nothing. What I need is a script that would go to a specifc web page, log in, downloaded a PDF and then extracted specific data from it. Have NO FREAKING idea where to start :-D
computergroove
PDF's can be displayed on the screen in some cases. Scripts rely on real data. Can you define what website link the PDF file will be? Is the download link for the PDF File in the same location every time? The extracted data: is the data in the same place every time? Is the info you want prefixed with the same phrase or header every time? Is it the same length? Can you share the webpage and data you want to get? Seminko
The text from the PDF can be selected, copied etc. The dowload link is always the same The data are usually in the same place Yes the info is prefixed with the same phrase every time It should be the same lenght I can't share the website. It's a company website, where you need to log in etc. EDIT: alright, and if I had the PDF downloaded? Edited September 1, 2014 by Seminko
computergroove
Getting logged into the site and downloading the pdf file isnt that hard to automate. But if you don't need to do that then you will need to start by opening the pdf file in the script: $File = FileOpen(Location and name of pdf file) I have never done this with a pdf file so it may not work. You can add this to your script and try msgbox(0,"","$File) to see if it read the data. Then look for something that will identify the data you are looking for. Look at -> https://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/docs/functions/StringRight.htm and take a look at all the other related functions near the bottom. Seminko
Another thing. I cannot instal anything on a company PC. So far I went for opening the PDF, copying all the data, making an array out of them but now I need a way to search for a string in such an array to navigate me to the correct index. Seminko
I actually found my own way to extract the data from the PDF using various stringsplit, stringbetween and arraysearch functions. But now I'm left with a long list of code which I KNOW can be very much shortened by For $i = 0 etc. etc. I have this: $SecondEmployeeArrayRaw = _StringBetween($Clip, $FirstEmployee, $SecondEmployee) $SecondEmployeeArray = StringSplit($SecondEmployeeArrayRaw[0], " ", 1) $SecondEmployeeyRef = _ArraySearch($SecondEmployeeArray, "náhrady") $SecondEmployeeWage = $SecondEmployeeArray[$SecondEmployeeyRef + 1] MsgBox(1, "", $SecondEmployeeyWage) What do you think guys? If I had an array of employee names coud this block of code be done for every employee? Most importantly HOW?

Seminko
Alright, I have this: Local $Zamestnanec[29] = ["Balco", "Bartusek", "Bublíková", "Celerová", "Drábková", "Drobiszová", "Halfar", "Hemzalová", "Hruzíková", "Humlová", "Kouřilová", "Kozlová", "Kvardová", "Lebeda", "Magnusková", "Mecová", "Motalová", "Neusserová", "Otáhalíková", "Pazourek", "Polnická", "Soukupová", "Staňková", "Svozil", "Tvarůžková", "Vašut", "Vobrová", "Vrábelová", "Zeman"] $Clip = ClipGet() $BalcoArrayRaw = _StringBetween($Clip, "Průměr", "Balco") $BalcoArray = StringSplit($BalcoArrayRaw[0], " ", 1) $BalcoNahrada = $BalcoArray[4] MsgBox(1, "", $BalcoNahrada) For $i = 1 to 29 - 1 $ArrayRaw = _StringBetween($Clip, $Zamestnanec[$i-1], $Zamestnanec[$i]) $Array = StringSplit($ArrayRaw[0], " ", 1) $ArrayRef = _ArraySearch($Array, "náhrady") $Nahrada = $Array[$ArrayRef + 1] MsgBox(1, "", $Zamestnanec[$i] & " " & $Nahrada) Next Now, unfortunately the $Nahrada variable is only expressed from the For loop. What I need is for the script to give me an array (I guess) with each employee name ($Zamestnanec[$i]) and their respective $Nahrada. But right now $Nahrada is only being generated once for every $Zamestnanec[$i]. I would like those values in an txt file. Anyone?

Seminko
Actually I already have a an $array so I had to change Local $array[29][2] to a different name but it works . Thank you mikell!
shepPettibone
Well, I have no suggestion about how to implement such a script from scratch yet I know some kind of clue for you on how to force a script extract data from the pdf file. Take a look at this one https://www.altoextractpdf.com seems like just a simple tool to extract data from pdf's, this is as it is. It's quite easily crafted thing so I think it will come in use to you for such a purpose
