$string = "649"
$substring = "645, 646,   647,648,    649,"

If StringRegExp($substring, '(?i)(^|,)\h*' & $string & '(?!\h*\w+)') then ConsoleWrite("yes" & @CR)

Change $string to some value either in or out of $substring

My code works if the exact 3 digit number is found. But my regexp is from another script I am using and I don't understand why the regexp works.

The requirement is... search $substring for a 3 digit number exact match. "64" must not match "645" or "646", etc. Whitespaces ignore, special characters like commas semicolons ignored.

Look up StringRegExp in the help file, and look at what each character represents.

Look at word boundary i.e. b. You appear to have a good understanding, so I am guessing you don't need more than that.

Another way, with a slightly different semantics:

Local $sString = "645"
Local $sSearch = "W645zzz, 646,   647,648,    649,"
If StringRegExp($sSearch, '(?<!\d)' & $sString & '(?!\d)') Then ConsoleWrite("Yes" & @CRLF)

Cats, skins, ... you know what.

This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available). An absolute must have in your bookmarks.
Another excellent RegExp tutorial. Don't forget downloading your copy of up-to-date pcretest.exe and pcregrep.exe here

PCRE v8.33 regexp documentation latest available release and currently implemented in AutoIt beta.

SQLitespeed is another feature-rich premier SQLite manager (includes import/export). Well worth a try.
SQLite Expert (freeware Personal Edition or payware Pro version) is a very useful SQLite database manager.
An excellent eBook covering almost every aspect of SQLite3: a must-read for anyone doing serious work.
SQL tutorial (covers "generic" SQL, but most of it applies to SQLite as well)
