Unintended Changes to _PathSplit() ???

In previous versions, the parameters for _PathSplit() were optional, allowing for a script to just use the array returned.  Under this new version (3.3.12.0), the parameters are not optional any more.

Was this an intentional change?  It seems kind of redundant to require the ByRef parameters to return the path parts, AND to return an array with the parts as well.  It makes more sense to me to either allow the script author to choose which method they prefer, or to remove the redundant array return.

In what version were they optional? I've never seen the function work with optional parameters.

The parameters haven't been optional then.

I have apps compiled using 3.3.11.5 that did not use parameters only used the first parameter, but worked.

Perhaps I just got lucky with those ones.  Maybe since it was a beta version, some of the checks that would have stopped it were disabled.

Are there any plans to phase out the array return then?  It does seem kind of redundant.

Yes, but I did not provide 'default' as parameters.  I only passed the full path as a single parameter.  Now that I have looked over the code for _PathSplit, I don't know how it worked without causing other problems.  I will consider myself extra lucky in this case.

I did notice, though, that the value returned in $sDir and the value in $aArray[2] might not be the same value.   Lines 953-957 in file.au3 alter $sDir, but do not update the value of $aArray[2].

I am updating my scripts to work using the ByRef variables, and ignore the function return value.

My guess is you disabled Au3Check and never executed that line, though you thought you did.
