WinActivate with variable and string

I appreciate everyone who has helped me on this website. You have been so helpful but I have another issue.

I am trying to activate a window based on a word a user entered and a string from the title of an internet explorer window.

I've tried the following but cant seem to get it to work. Not sure if this is possible of it I just don't have the correct syntax.

Local $var  =  $test & "text from internet explorer"

winactivate ($var)

and

Winactivate ($test & "text from internet explorer")

It should work the way you're writing it, the only thing is to make sure that you have set the option correctly for WinTitleMatchMode. Whether that means looking for a partial match of the string, or even a case insensitive search, depending upon what the actual title of the window is and how much of it you want of it to match.

I tried opt("WinTitleMatchMode",2) and opt("WinTitleMatchMode",4), still no luck.

Write your variable to console or show it in MsgBox, maybe then you find an error in text.

If there's a space in the title, that's not in your variable it will fail. So unless this "$test & "text from internet explorer"" matches exactly, spaces included, it won't find the correct window to activate. Make sure that the "text from internet explorer" doesn't need a leading space.
