Need Help with INIREAD on WINDOWS 7

I have an automation script pn aba which uses the autoit commands. The file worked fine when we were on Windows XP environment but is not able to exceute the same set of commands on windows 7. Keeps giving "Object doesn't support this property or method (Error 438)" error.

 targetnew = autoItObj!IniRead("C:winflex62RELAY.OUT", "HeaderValues", "bridge_CommPrem", "0")
 

Please help

Please reformat your post, I'm not sure what the line is you're trying to execute is supposed to contain as it's not going to work on any OS as written.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

target = autoItObj.IniRead("C:winflex62RELAY.OUT", "HeaderValues", "bridge_CommPrem", "0")

The command just reads a value from text file called Relay.out under section  "HeaderValues". I have been using this for 2 years on XP and it works fine. Only with windows 7 it is giving me issue of Object doesn't support this property or method (Error 438)

Basically having problems with iniread command

I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm assuming you're using the AutoItX3 dll. The INI functions were removed from the dll back in version 3.3.10.0.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

The basic IniRead function works perfectly on Win7 - it is the "autoItObj." section preceding the function call which is perplexing us. Why do you have that prefix? :huh:

As the Ini* functions were removed from the DLL, I can only suggest reading and parsing the file. But I will move this thread to the correct section - then the AutoItX gurus (which I am most certainly not) will see it and perhaps offer something more suitable. :)

In VBA ini files are accessed via the GetSetting(), GetAllSettings(), SaveSetting() and DeleteSetting() functions

Although my curiosity is now aroused with why it was removed, now that you know what it is... why not just import the old autoitx.dll from your other windows/files and continue to use the iniread function?

Common sense plays a role in the basics of understanding AutoIt... If you're lacking in that, do us all a favor, and step away from the computer.

According to the help file, it was removed because a) it wasn't used all that much, and B) it can usually be done in the native language that you're using the DLL in nearly as easily.
