CoreTech
Yes, but the WinWait* functions don't work properly in the face of Session 0 Isolation. This article describes what we found when testing our commercial run-as-a-service application with AutoIt: http://www.coretechnologies.com/blog/miscellaneous/running-autoit-session-0/
BrewManNH
And your question is? You already have all the information telling you that you can't do it, so why ask again? What exactly do you want to do with the script and how are you attempting to do it? If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. Teach a programmer to debug and he can do his work for a lifetime - by Chirag GudeHow to ask questions the smart way! I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from. Back up and restore Windows user files _Array.au3 - Modified array functions that include support for 2D arrays. - ColorChooser - An add-on for SciTE that pops up a color dialog so you can select and paste a color code into a script. - Customizable Splashscreen GUI w/Progress Bar - Create a custom "splash screen" GUI with a progress bar and custom label. - _FileGetProperty - Retrieve the properties of a file - SciTE Toolbar - A toolbar demo for use with the SciTE editor - GUIRegisterMsg demo - Demo script to show how to use the Windows messages to interact with controls and your GUI. - Latin Square password generator
Moderators SmOke_N Posted November 24, 2014 Moderators Share Posted November 24, 2014 I'm not sure what you're expecting. Are you trying to interact with an application that is running in a different Session? That's not going to happen with Vista+ very well using things that require you to send a PostMessge or SendMessage and expect a response (eg, most every window and mouse function). This was setup to protect really. It was a bandaid to a vulnerability. Might want to look at what services are actually intended to accomplish. Common sense plays a role in the basics of understanding AutoIt... If you're lacking in that, do us all a favor, and step away from the computer. clicked
You could also try running as a scheduled task. Not sure what you are trying to do, but interaction with a GUI (which is the primary value of AutoIt) requires a GUI context, and Windows is very particular about that. The only way to get one is to log the script into one, such as with a remote desktop. I've found that if you "X" out of the RD, the GUI context goes away, therefore you need to be logged in all the time. VMs are ideal for this, because you can turn on auto admin logon into the console, turn off legal caption, and create a Startup item to launch your script. But this is neither a service nor a scheduled task.
