find Install date yet registry = 0

Got a uninstall script to finish that i need to compare a program against and if its been installed longer than a week then it doesnt uninstall it

Searched all the way through the registry and i cant find a single occurence of the dat associated with the program yet in Programs and features it says this

Where the hell is this value stored and how do i read it?

It's the date of the created executable.

Look in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall" under that key in the registry, or the equivalent one for x64 vs. x86, you'll find a lot of subkeys in the format of "{858C1B33-C3D5-4377-B77B-1E2F338C7F66}", inside those keys you'd need to search for the value DisplayName that corresponds to the program you're looking for. There's almost always a value in the key that has the name InstallDate in the format YYYYMMDD, and that's what your'e going to need to look for to find out the information.

As a follow up, because I couldn't check it on the computer I was on before, the x86 location to check would be "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall". Just as an FYI.

Im aware of the reg keys, i routinely use them for uninstalls

This is the full list i use that i have found through research

The issue is finding where that date is stored as guinness mentioned

Are you having problems finding it for anything besides CCleaner or any other Piriform product? I just installed CCleaner and checked the registry, and there's no install date listed in any keys created. Might be a problem with that software or that company's software and where they put the install date.

Yep its CCleaner and Defraggler are the 2 i have the issue with

I think the simplest way to do this is to make a reg key as i install that the product existed before the update and then check the key at uninstall and if the key was flagged because the product pre existed then miss that pass of the uninstaller

On my computer, the FileTime of CCleaner is not the same than the installation date.

But the link I gave before works for me...

If there is no InstallDate value than Windows will show the last write time of the respected registry key.
