GUICtrlCreateList Center Text?

 Share

Recommended Posts

There is no control style setting for a Listbox that will center the text automatically. You're going to have to do it the hard way.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Back up and restore Windows user files _Array.au3 - Modified array functions that include support for 2D arrays.  -  ColorChooser - An add-on for SciTE that pops up a color dialog so you can select and paste a color code into a script.  -  Customizable Splashscreen GUI w/Progress Bar - Create a custom "splash screen" GUI with a progress bar and custom label.  -  _FileGetProperty - Retrieve the properties of a file  -  SciTE Toolbar - A toolbar demo for use with the SciTE editor  -  GUIRegisterMsg demo - Demo script to show how to use the Windows messages to interact with controls and your GUI.  -   Latin Square password generator

its your list, and your data.  Here it is with a modded example from GuiCtrlCreateList.  Just click the add or clear buttons

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <MsgBoxConstants.au3>

Example()

Func Example()

    $width = 200

    Local $sMESSAGE = "The following buttons have been clicked"

    GUICreate("My GUI list") ; will create a dialog box that when displayed is centered

    Local $idAdd = GUICtrlCreateButton("Add", 64, 32, 75, 25)
    Local $idClear = GUICtrlCreateButton("Clear", 64, 72, 75, 25)
    Local $idMylist = GUICtrlCreateList("", 176, 32, 200, 97)
    GUICtrlSetLimit(-1, 200) ; to limit horizontal scrolling
;~     GUICtrlSetData(-1, $sMESSAGE)
    Local $idClose = GUICtrlCreateButton("my closing button", 64, 160, 175, 25)

    GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)

    ; Loop until the user exits.
    While 1
        Switch GUIGetMsg()
            Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
                ExitLoop
            Case $idAdd
                $data = "You clicked button No1|"
                $data = stringformat("%35s" , $data)
                GUICtrlSetData($idMylist, $data)
            Case $idClear
                $data = "You clicked a button named CLEAR|"
                $data = stringformat("%35s" , $data)
                GUICtrlSetData($idMylist, $data)
            Case $idClose
                MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "the closing button has been clicked", 2)
                Exit
        EndSwitch
    WEnd
EndFunc   ;==>Example

That workaround only works if the text is shorter than the listbox is wide. Once you get past the edge, it isn't centered any longer.

I believe Melba23 uses a Center method in his GUICtrlListviewEx udf.

But there sure are plenty of examples here:

https://www.google.com/search?q=center+text+site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fautoitscript.com%2Fforum

Common sense plays a role in the basics of understanding AutoIt... If you're lacking in that, do us all a favor, and step away from the computer.

How does this help me in anyway? I want to center the text inside the list? o.O

yeah, when you click the buttons the resulting text inside the list is not centered at all   :ermm:

*it does still have the flaw that brewman pointed out.
