trof
Hi, I'd like to use SendTo context menu to send files/folders to a program that doesn't suppot it. The program is BitKiller and it deletes files only through drag and drop and the buttons on its gui. I know how to use SendTo menu to send files to a program, but this behavior should be converted in a drag and drop action. According to you, is it possible create a script that allows this action? BrewManNH
Only if the program accepts command line parameters, which is how Send To works. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. trof
Unfortunately BitKiller doesn't accept command line parameters. My request is surreal, I know. Thanks for your reply
computergroove
The source -> http://sourceforge.net/projects/bitkiller/files/BitKiller2.0_source.zip/download is made in MS Visual C++. I would break that down and replicate it or modify the source to meet your requirements. Unfortunately C++ is a bit of a challenge to learn. In my experience, the autoit forums are the best I have ever used for getting help from other users. Can anyone suggest a friendly forum for C++ and Visual Basic (other than MSDN and stackoverflow)? hydranix
As an alternative, you could use the Sysinternals program sdelete.exe to secure erase files. Its free, and command line only. Which makes it ideal for the Send-To context menu. You can just drop the .exe itself into th SenTo folder, or (better option) make a shortcut to sdelete.exe in the SendTo folder. Nothing else needs to be done. One issue i noticed though was it being a CLI app, it opens a command window each time its run. I found that both annoying and ugly. So i hacked it. With a hex editor, I changed sdelete.exe into a GUI app, so it never opens the command window, and still works exactly as expected in SendTo. trof
Thank you very much The problem with Sdelete is that it doesn't erase folders when lunched from SendTo menu. Edited January 4, 2015 by trof
