MS Word read whole doc file into var

Is it possible to read whole doc file into var? I was trying the word.au3 udf, but can't solve this question

Local $oWord = _WordCreate()
Local $oDoc = _WordDocOpen($oWord, @ScriptDir & "\test2.doc", Default, Default, True)

Don't understand what to do then?

That won't work for a Word document.

Yes, that would work provided the file is open in binary mode, yet I wonder what the purpose could be to load a Word doc verbatim in a variable. Can't think of any use for that.

But you couldn't read it, as text,  if it's a docx file because it's just a zip file and there's no text to see in it. You'd have the contents of the file, but you wouldn't be able to actually do much of anything with that data.

That's why I'm still wondering how reading it as binary can be of any use. And the OP was talking of a .doc file (not that this makes a significant difference from usefulness point of view).

Thank you very much for your replies. Perhaps I need to specify: I need to read the text of the word doc- it is not with binary related, though?

What exactly do you mean by "text"? Only the main story? How about headings/footings etc.?

Say, you open word doc select all and paste it into txt file.- I think whole text, story
