Passing command line arguments from script to exe.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm trying to pass a command line argument from a script to an exe but I can't figure out how to do it. Here's my code:

#include <Constants.au3>
ShellExecute ( "AAAA.exe" [, "$CmdLineRaw" [, "" [, "open" [, @SW_MAXIMIZE]]]] )

It crashes saying "Subscript used on non-accessible variable". The $CmdLineRaw is the parameter I'm trying to pass.

no games questions here, BUT, here is an answer:

; Execute the readme file (.txt) with the default editor used for text files in Windows.
    Local "myTextFile.txt"
    Local $iPID = ShellExecute($sFile)

if you need more, post your code :)

ShellExecute ("VisualBoyAdvance.exe" , $CmdLineRaw, "", "open", @SW_MAXIMIZE)

The brackets in the command shown in the help file designate optional parameters and you don't use the brackets in the actual command. Also, you put put quotes around your variable name which turns it into a string containing the text "$CmdLineRaw" rather than the contents of the variable itself.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Well, a gameboy emulator is not necessarily a game... But gameboy is a platform primarily designed for games (though many people use it to make music too). Is this game automation? Murky territory. I wonder what the mods will do :)

Wonder no more!

 zerothesavior,

Welcome to the AutoIt forum.

Unfortunately you appear to have missed the Forum rules on your way in. Please read them now - particularly the bit about not discussing game automation - and then you will understand why this thread will now be locked.
