AutoIt Install Routine - What to Choose x86 or x64?

Recommended Posts

I have Windows 7 Pro. x64 operating system. During the AutoIt install routine the following dialogue is shown:

AutoIt_Install.thumb.jpg.b5f5cee0e50f82e

I would note that the default setting for the installer is a show above (i.e. x86). However, what is the best answer to this question? If there is someone that knows could they give information on what the difference is between these installs, x64 and x86?

Yeah, the best answer is "Choose the option that best fits YOUR needs". Are you going to write all x64 scripts, or scripts for both platforms?

If you don't know what you will need, then leave it as the default and move along.

Another consideration: if you expect to be using DLLs adopt the architecture they are compiled for, x86 being prevalent.
