how to send key "context menu"

Recommended Posts

Hi folk

I like to know how I could send the key of the Context Menu to a application. Pressing the right mouse button does not help because it changes the focus in the application. For example in the explorer the right click aktivates the area where the mouse cursor is located.

I need to activate the context menu of the applikatin because the function I like to run is only there availible.

Thang for any help

Franz

You can use Ctrl+Esc to open the Start menu, but I believe that AutoIt can simulate those keys even if they don't appear on the user's keyboard.

Welcome to the forums!

Try this:

Send('+{F10}')

From http://alanmiller.awardspace.com/context2.htm:

Context Menus

There is a keyboard shortcut to open a context menu. Ctrl + Shift + F10 works in many programs, unless the application uses that key combination for something else. There may actually be a dedicated key on your keyboard to open the context menu, usually more universal and reliable, looking something like the key on the right in Figure 2.

So actually, you need to send:
      Send('^+{F10}')

This thread is 12 years old, do you really think the poster needs this information now?

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Sorry i couldn't resist :D

In the future, try harder. Also, why did you report @Christof's post as a "Troll Account"? Yes he opened a long dead thread, but I think reporting it is a bit OTT

I reported it because it seemed obvious to me that a newly created account bumping a 12 years old topic for a trivial question made no sense. In almost every forum i joined when this happens the mods usually lock the topic and ask the user to stop doing this. But if i've been wrong then I apologize!
