kolad
Hello all,I've been trying to merge the output of various command line tools as well as some other binary files (various types of data) into a single file. So far concatenating the files isn't a problem, but I can't think of a way to then split the various outputs into separate files. Merging the files is done by one program and splitting it is done from a different program on different machine. Since the output comes from different tools it'll produce different size of output on each and every machine it runs against. I guess what I'm trying is trivial thing to do, but I can't think of a way to separate the merged file into separate files containing the output of each tool.Has anyone got an idea what can I use to get the job done? Can I use some sort of a signature/marker between the files while concatenating them as a pointer when extracting the output into a separate file?Best wishes to all
water
Can't you pack them into a ZIP file and let do Windows or WinZIP do the unpacking? kolad
That was how my old script used to work. It used 7zip to archive + encrypt the contents. I'm moving away from this approach in order to get my compiled script smaller and utilize windows APIs as much as possible. The whole approach now is to compress then encrypt then merge, but the splitting the merged file after decryption and decompression is still missing. kolad
Thank you very much KaFu! That was exactly what I was looking for. I will have to make some modifications, but at the end of the day it will work as expected. Cheers!
