Administrators Jon Posted July 31, 2015 Administrators Share Posted July 31, 2015 This new feature basically uses your machine to upload patches to other people on your LAN to save bandwidth and increase download speed in a torrent-like way. Great idea. Except by default it's set to also allow you to share updates with the internet. You go into Windows Update -> Advanced Settings to set it to LAN-only jvanegmond 1 Deployment Blog: https://www.autoitconsulting.com/site/blog/ SCCM SDK Programming: https://www.autoitconsulting.com/site/sccm-sdk/
BrewManNH
Sounds like what LanDesk has had for years, where you send the updates to one machine and it uses that machine as the WSUS server instead of Microsoft's. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. jvanegmond
I don't recall being asked during installation if I wanted to use my available bandwidth for their corporate gains. I'm pretty sure I would have said no. Edited July 31, 2015 by Manadar github.com/jvanegmond

Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted July 31, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 31, 2015 @xxaviarxx - as stated it is all of 3 mouse clicks to turn the feature off. If that is enough for you to call the OS unusable that is pretty narrow minded. "Profanity is the last vestige of the feeble mind.
