Messed Up Associations?

 Share

Recommended Posts

I guess I messed something up.

When doubleclicking on a *.au3 file, I get the following error in a Windows box:

C:\path\to\myfile.au3 is not a valid Win32 application

I checked the associations and this is what I have:

Run: C:\Program Files\AutoIt3\AutoIt3.exe "%1" %*

Open: C:\Program Files\AutoIt3\AutoIt3.exe "%1" %*

Edit: notepad.exe %1

Compile: C:\Program Files\AutoIt3\Aut2Exe\Aut2Exe.exe /in "%l"

Remark: The original C:\Program Files\AutoIt3\AutoIt3.exe "%1" %2 %3 %4 .... etc did not work either.

When running my script from the commandline with

"C:\Program Files\AutoIt3\AutoIt3.exe" myfile.au3

then it works fine.

I reinstalled AutoIt, but that did not help. I completely removed AutoIt from the system, cleaned the registry and installed again. Still the same problem.

Help.. what did I do? What can I do to get it working again?

Thanks a lot

Dan

Run: C:\Program Files\AutoIt3\AutoIt3.exe "%1" %*
Open: C:\Program Files\AutoIt3\AutoIt3.exe "%1" %*
Edit: notepad.exe %1
Compile: C:\Program Files\AutoIt3\Aut2Exe\Aut2Exe.exe /in "%l"

pop into the registry and change the path names to short ones, i see you have no encompassing "" around the path.

Run: C:\Progra~1\AutoIt3\AutoIt3.exe "%1" %*
Open: C:\Progra~1\AutoIt3\AutoIt3.exe "%1" %*
Edit: notepad.exe %1
Compile: C:\Progra~1\AutoIt3\Aut2Exe\Aut2Exe.exe /in "%l"

Ha! Found the problem. Actually, beerman was on the right track.

There was a file c:\Program on my system, which messed up the start of autoit3.exe. I believe I did create it by accident, while playing around with Crimson Editor settings. After deleting that file, everything works fine again.

beerman, your idea would have helped too. Thanks!
