How to create a new UTF8 file without BOM, and write to it

Hello everyone

I want to create a new text file, in UTF8 encoding, without byte order mark, and then write content to it.  However, it appears that I can't create a text file with FileOpen ("filename", 256), so I tried to get around that by creating a file using FileOpen ("filename", 2) and then reopening that file as "256".  So, to my mind, this should work:

$fileopen1 = FileOpen ("foo.txt", 2)
FileClose ($fileopen1)

$fileopen2 = FileOpen ("foo.txt", 256)
FileWrite ($fileopen2, "asdf")

...but it doesn't.  It doesn't add "asdf" to the text file.  How am I supposed to do this?

Interesting, thanks.  I would not have guessed this, since the user manual states that "256" is for not only reading but for both reading and writing.
