Giving Variable from Func to Func

Hi,

How to give/send a Variable from one Function to another but letting the User allowed to make it another

just as an example:

_YML_Close($tfile = $YML_Open)

the $YML_Open has been setted from another Function which opened the YML which i want to send if nothing has been inserted it will just being used.

So  I do not recommend use that kind of parameter. I prefer keep just the global avoiding using it as parameter.

Word of advice, prefix global variables with $g_, as you will be able to distinguish between local and global, the further you start coding. GIven your history on this forum, I hope I don't have to explain what is a local and global scope.

No, for that you need to use the Global keyword, it's merely a naming convention e.g. imagine I give you some code of mine, which one of these variables is Global?

; ....

$sSomething = 'Something is entered here'
$iAge = 21
If $iAge < 21 Then MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "Something something something")

Did you guess? What was your answer? Now look at the same code and tell me which is global.

; ....

$g_sSomething = 'Something is entered here'
$iAge = 21
If $iAge < 21 Then MsgBox($MB_SYSTEMMODAL, "", "Something something something")

It would appear so. I do believe you have a lot to learn still and thus should refrain from trying to help others when you yourself are still in the early stages of grasping AutoIt. Just one point to add, I linked to an article for you to read, that should clear any confusion. So last time $g_ tells whether the variable is global and the lowercase prefix e.g. s denotes the type e.g. $g_sSome is a global variable that hold a string, $iAge is a local variable that holds a integer, $bIsOkay, is a local variable that holds a boolean value. Understand?

You really need to understand that article, especially now since you are asking about function parameters.  It will help you avoid this kind of confusion...

Global $str = 'Global scope'

myfunc('what am I?')
ConsoleWrite($str & @CRLF)

func myfunc($str)
    ConsoleWrite($str & @CRLF)
endfunc

If scope and type modifiers are used in the variable names then this will never be a problem. 

edit: Even worse...

Global $str = 'Global scope'

myfunc()
ConsoleWrite($str & @CRLF)

func myfunc()
    local $str = 'what'
    ConsoleWrite($str & @CRLF)
endfunc

kylomas is using non-recommended AutoIt variable naming, that's perhaps where the confusion comes form. Anyhow, it appears you post too quickly without really thinking about it or doing research about the subject.

maybe maybe ... but i wouldn't really have to make it like them right? couldn't i make them aslong as i am Scripting for my own the Variable names so that i would understand them :/?

Of course, but if history has taught us anything, people tend not to document their own convention, so good luck remembering why you chose your custom convention 12 months down the road.

If scope and type modifiers are used in the variable names then this will never be a problem.  

RaiNote - Even if you do not strictly follow the naming standards (who does?) make sure that the names are meaningful within the context of the code.  You will be glad you did when you revisit the code at a later date.
