BiggJohn
Here's something I thought of. Since you're saying you don't mind administrators being able to kill it, there is a way to disable task manager via registry. You could disable it and perhaps have an option for users to be able to activate task manager again using a username and a password, which would only be known to administrators. And if your users are somewhat "advanced", there is also a way to disable registry editor, via regedit(ironically). I won't openly mention the ways here, but they're pretty well known. Tell me if that works. That's a very interesting idea Gibbz, I'll look into it. Thanks for suggesting it.John
iamtheky
There are ways to disable regedit, but there is not a way (nor want) to stop them from editing items in HKCU; which is conveniently where the disableregedit entry is located. Placing multiple hurdles in multiple locations is bound to do more harm than help. Gibbz
I do not assume the users we're dealing with are advanced enough to find a workaround, but if they're, you can make a script that checks if the registery value has been modified, and if so, modifies it back.
