_Timer_GetIdleTime / specific pc idle time always resets

Recommended Posts

Something like this:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
#include <MsgBoxConstants.au3>
#include <Timers.au3>

Global $iTotalIdle, $iLastIdle, $iIdleTime
GUICreate('Idle Test',640,480)
$idActIdle=GUICtrlCreateLabel('',10,10,500,30)
$idTotalIdle=GUICtrlCreateLabel('',10,50,500,30)
GUISetState()
While 1
    $iIdleTime = _Timer_GetIdleTime()
    If $iIdleTime > $iLastIdle Then
        GUICtrlSetData($idActIdle,'Act. Idle: '&$iIdleTime&' ms')
        $iLastIdle=$iIdleTime
    Else
        $iTotalIdle+=$iLastIdle
        GUICtrlSetData($idTotalIdle,'Total Idle: '&$iTotalIdle&' ms')
        $iLastIdle=0
    EndIf
    $iMsg =GUIGetMsg()
    Switch $iMsg
       Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
            Exit
    EndSwitch
 WEnd

thanks i can see with your code that the actual idle time never goes above 1000ms;

but i'm in the same predicament. how would i know whats causing the actual idle to reset itself to 0 every second?

it resets with no visible mouse or keyboard activity.

Sounds like something on that machine is resetting the idle timer (GetLastInputInfo), might be some software on it that's causing the issue. The script AutoBert posted is working for me as well, so I can only assume here.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.
