I don't know how to explain this, but some scripts are very long, and I don't want to run the whole thing everytime.

I only want to run short snippets for testing. So I need some Stop, go and pause options, just not the full F5

How can I do this?

; Run Notepad with the window maximized.
    Local $iPID = Run("notepad.exe")

; Wait 10 seconds for the Notepad window to appear.
    WinWait("[CLASS:Notepad]", "", 10)

#region
send("This is line text 1" & @CRLF)
;how to start the script from LINE 9

send("This is line text 2" & @CRLF)
;how to stop the script on LINE 12

send("This is line text 3" & @CRLF)
;how to run the script from LINE 8-15

#endregion

xuso,

Comment out the lines you do not want to run with a leading " ; " or use the #cs / #ce directives to comment out blocks.

Let's say I have 100 lines of code, I want to run 2 lines.

So I want to #cs / #ce EVERYTHING but the 2 lines something like this:

#cs
send("This is line text 1" & @CRLF)

send("This is line text 2" & @CRLF)
;how to have only LINE 12 execute but NOT line 9 and 15

send("This is line text 3" & @CRLF)

#ce

That's one way of doing it. You can also highlight the lines you don't want to run and hit CTRL-Q to comment them out.

You can also do as JohnOne suggested and use functions. You could also use the command line to tell the script which function to run for debugging purposes, but you'd have to add in the command line functionality to your script, and use SHIFT-F8 to add the command line parameters in SciTE.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Back up and restore Windows user files _Array.au3 - Modified array functions that include support for 2D arrays.  -  ColorChooser - An add-on for SciTE that pops up a color dialog so you can select and paste a color code into a script.  -  Customizable Splashscreen GUI w/Progress Bar - Create a custom "splash screen" GUI with a progress bar and custom label.  -  _FileGetProperty - Retrieve the properties of a file  -  SciTE Toolbar - A toolbar demo for use with the SciTE editor  -  GUIRegisterMsg demo - Demo script to show how to use the Windows messages to interact with controls and your GUI.  -   Latin Square password generator

xuso,

The Ctrl-Q HotKey acts as a toggle - just press it again. And you can find the keyboard shortcuts in the SciTE Help file.
