DigDeep
I am having some trouble getting the GLOBAL variables declared. If I am declaring any Variable as Global in the top of the script, it should be applied in throughout the code. But I see that I still have to provide Global $Path after each "Case" to be able to identify it. If the "Case" looks for the $Path and I do not provide after any of the "Case" then that Case does not provide correct results. Just to add here that, my code is too huge and has loads of Globals and Cases declared. So, wanted to check is it required to re-declare the Global $Path both at the top and again wherever needed?Global $Path = "C:\Program Files (x86)\FolderName\FileName" While1 Select Case Fileexists($Path) Global $Path = "C:\Program Files (x86)\FolderName\FileName" FindFile1() Endselect Select Case Not Fileexists($Path) Global $Path = "C:\Program Files (x86)\FolderName\FileName" FindFile2() Endselect Wend Func FindFile1() Code..... Endfunc Func FindFile2() Code... Endfunc
czardas
No you do not have to redeclare a global variable - it can be used, and new data assigned to it, anywhere in your script. You only need to use the 'Global' keyword once. Edited November 16, 2015 by czardas operator64 ArrayWorkshop
water
Global $Path = "C:\Program Files (x86)\FolderName\FileName" While If Fileexists($Path) Then FindFile1() Else FindFile2() EndIf Sleep(1000) ; Check every second Wend Func FindFile1() Code..... DigDeep
@waterThat is how I had written my code. But at any place if I am not re-declaring the Global, the "Case" does not do what it is supposed to. Only if I re-declare Global, the "Case" works. water
By definition Global is global and does not need to be redefined.Either you are using a Local with the same name in a function or you are assigning a new value to the Global somewhere in your script. As you didn't post the full code we can't help any further. BrewManNH
This is how you'd write it, although in this code reassigning the $Path variable is pointless as the variable already contains the data you're assigning to it in the Select statements.Global $Path = "C:\Program Files (x86)\FolderName\FileName" While1 Select Case Fileexists($Path) $Path = "C:\Program Files (x86)\FolderName\FileName" FindFile1() Case Else $Path = "C:\Program Files (x86)\FolderName\FileName" FindFile2() Endselect Wend Func FindFile1() Code..... Endfunc Func FindFile2() Code... Endfunc If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. water
Do not forget to insert a Sleep statement into the While loop. Else the script will eat up all your CPU.
