How to store static data for scripts currently in Excel

 Share

Recommended Posts

I am developing a front-end application to look up some data.  The Data remains pretty static and only updates like twice a year.  How would you store this?  Currently, its in Excel, but I would like something a little more transparent, like a MySQL DB.  I welcome any suggestions.

It depends, you need to define "some data":

  • Is it one line? Save it in an INI
  • Is it 100 rows? Save it in Excel
  • Is it 50000 rows with 10 columns each? Then maybe SQLite is the way to go.

You need to give us better information in order to help you ;)

If Excel fits your needs (fast enough, you know how to read/write data etc.) then I would stick with it. "More professional" is a bit vague :)
