Bug reoport procedure

Recommended Posts

I don't mean to undermine all the hard work by mods. I really appropriate it.

I noticed something and thought (still think) there is a bug in one of Autoit functions. From my previous experience with bug reporting and the time it took to fix the bug, I found a work around. But to let the mods know I created a ticket and reported the bug. A couple of hours later I noticed the ticket is not there any more. I didn't get any notification. I thought I have not done it properly and created another ticket. One day later I noticed the ticket is gone. I then looked for it and found out that both the tickets are in old removed tickets. I didn't get any notification in either case.

I think bug reporting should be encouraged and appreciated. It will help improving Autoit. Informing the members of removing the tickets or asking them additional information can be improved. A PM or an email can do better than moving the ticket and adding comments that the original bug reporter don't receive.

Does it matter? My point is not if the mods have correctly moved the bug report or not. My point is if the bug reporter takes time to report a bug she/he deserve to get a PM if the ticket is moved and or if additional info is needed.

Anyway the tickets are 3171 and 3172.

The reports stay in trac, you just need to look under closed items. We tend to give a reason why we close it in the trac report.

3170 was the initial report (not 3171..right?)
It was closed as No bug and to check the forum by guinness. Since you posted in that after it was closed I guess you did see that ..right?
Did you have questions about that comment or did you just want to voice your opinion with the creation of this thread?

3172 was closed due to being a duplicate or 3170.

I'm sorry. This was not a question about where to look for a comment. I have already mentioned I found the closed ticket and the comments.

I realized that after reviewing the tickets and seeing you commented after it was closed...  hence my second post here.

I missed your post because I was reacting to your first post.

I don't really have anything to add to my first post and don't see any point in quoting myself.

Thanks anyway for trying to attend to my post.

Edit: Yes the ticket was 3170. Sorry. But to me it doesn't matter. The post was a suggestion about the procedure.

The post was a suggestion about the procedure.

Understood and tried to explain how it work's around here.
Discussions are done in the forum about Bugs or Feature requests and trac is a simple registering tool for Bugs and Feature requests often done by people without an (apparent) forum account, so would be difficult to have a single process.

Either way: points made, so moving on. :)

Thanks for your input

Jos
