Personal file encryption

Recommended Posts

Well I am pretty new to scripting and im stuck. I am trying to encrypt a personal file of mine but am having issues.

#include-once
#include <Crypt.au3>

Func _cn_encrypt_rc4($sDataorFile, $sOutFile = "", $sPass = "")
    Local $sData = $sDataorFile
    If FileExists($sDataorFile) Then
        $sData = FileRead($sDataorFile)
    EndIf
    If $sPass = "" Then $sPass = 12345
    Local $vKey = _Crypt_DeriveKey($sPass, $CALG_RC4)
    IF @error Then Return SetError(1, @error, False)
    Local $szEnc = _Crypt_EncryptData($sDataorFile, $vKey, $CALG_USERKEY)
    IF @error Then Return SetError(2, @error, False)
    If $sOutFile Then
        If Not FileExists($sOutFile) Then
            FileClose(FileOpen($sOutFile, 2))
            FileWrite($sOutFile, $szEnc)
            If @error Then Return SetError(3, @error, False)
            Return True
        EndIf
    EndIf
    Return $szEnc
EndFunc

Func _cn_decrypt_rc4($sDataorFile, $sOutFile = "", $sPass = "")
    Local $sData = $sDataorFile
    if FileExists($sDataorFile) Then
        $sData = FileRead($sDataorFile)
    EndIf
    If $sPass = "" Then $sPass = 12345
    Local $vKey = _Crypt_DeriveKey($sPass, $CALG_RC4)
    If @error Then Return SetError(1, @error, False)
    Local $szDec = _Crypt_DecryptData($sData, $vKey, $CALG_USERKEY)
    If @error Then Return SetError(2, @error, False)
    If $sOutFile Then
        If Not FileExists($sOutFile) Then
            FileClose(FileOpen($sOutFile, 2))
            FileWrite($sOutFile, $szDec)
            If @error Then Return SetError(3, @error, False)
            Return True
        EndIf
    EndIf
    Return $szDec
EndFunc

This is my test=

#include "encdec.au3"

_cn_encrypt_rc4(@UserProfileDir & "C:\Users\Chris Neal", @DesktopDir & "\Essential.txt", "abcdef")
_cn_decrypt_rc4(@DesktopDir & "C:\Users\Chris Neal, @DesktopDir & "\DecEssential.txt", "abcdef")

@mr_M_index, as Jfish suggested, please use code tags in the future. I have done so for you already.

The error message is clearly telling you what is wrong, an unterminated string. Check your quotes and you will find it (hint: C:\Users\Chris Neal)

Your code calling the 2 functions is horribly wrong as well. You're not giving the functions a file path and name to find the file to encrypt/decrypt. You're sending it the file name as

@UserProfileDir & "C:\Users\Chris Neal"

Which would translate to "C:\Users\Chris NealC:\Users\Chris Neal" (if Chris Neal is the current user).

The decrypt function is getting this: "C:\Users\Chris Neal\DesktopC:\Users\Chris Neal"

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
