I think I have a shell problem with IE.

I'm trying to use the Container UDF but it isn't working for me. I'm getting an error -1 on the msgbox "Container open failed" when trying to open the receive file. I believe this error indicates I have IE below 7, but I'm using IE11 on win 8.1. So what to do? How do I force my system to use a higher IE shell?

From what I've seen AutoIT and Win8's / Win10's IEs don't like each other.

This is a problem with the Container udf for not detecting correctly the IE version

e.g. IE 10 or 11 will fail the Container's test.

Till the udf will be updated I guess you can add your own function testing IExplorer version.

I didn't even get that far, I just used the example file that is provided with the udf compiled.

for example like this:

For me on Win7+IE11 it works.

How you test it ?

I went in the container UDF and changed that line. Then I compiled the example sender and receiver files. Then I atempt to start the receiver app and the error pops up. I then start the sender app and then attempt to start the receiver app, and the error still comes up.

STEP 1:
Close all iexplorer.exe process

STEP 2:
run SENDER

STEP 3:
run RECIEVER

OK, so I got it to work....initially. I didn't realize that you had to hit "ok" on the sender app before you started the receive app. I thought the receive app had to be open before you sent something...otherwise how could something be received.

Anyway, I did a couple tests, then all of a sudden it wont work anymore...WITH NO CHANGES.

Uncompiled I get:

"C:\Program Files\AutoIt3\Include\Container.au3" (147) : ==> Variable must be of type "Object".:
$oContainer.PutProperty($sVarName, $vValue)
$oContainer^ ERROR

Compiled I get an error box that says:

Autoit Error: Line 47 (File.......) Error: Variable must be of type "Object".

 

All of a sudden the object isn't getting created and I literally didn't do anything besides run it a couple times. I restarted the computer twice and still nothing.
