Attaching to embbeded ie with .aspx page

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm using _IEAttach to access an embedded IE OCX in a window.  This is working fine for URLs ending in '.html', however we have a .NET ASP system too which has URLs ending '.aspx' and these cause _IEAttach to fail on the line 'Return $oIE.Document.parentwindow' because the Document method fails.  2 things to note here:

1) $oIE is the correct handle - ObjName correctly returns 'HTMLWindow2'

2) I opened the .aspx page in normal IE and saved it back as a .html file then opened that file in the OCX - and _IEAttach works fine!

It looks like something is happening to prevent AutoIT accessing aspx pages - some sort of Windows security policy maybe??  Thats a complete guess on my part but its driving me nuts so any ideas gratefully received.

Like this: _IEAttach($oHwnd, "embedded")

The .aspx bit is a red herring - I've realised that has nothing to do with it.  The problem is occuring for web pages served through IIS.  Doesn't matter if they end in .html or .aspx.

So maybe some sort of IIS access privilege issue?

Hi mLipok

I'd not seen that document but I'll read through it - thanks.

Problem solved!  It was the security settings within IE in the end.  I added the Web Server's IP address to the list of Trusted Sites and everything now works great.

Many thanks for your replies.

Grant
