sjaikumar
Hello, I am new to AUTO IT and am currently working on writing a script that will uninstall an application that exists on the system and then install the same again. Here's what I have done so far. The problem is If I have a situation such that the application is not already installed on the system then the first part of my script fails and goes into a loop on the Send statement. I wish to know if there is any way that I can test a timeout and throw a Msgbox or something of the same nature as error handling in this scenario. ;This part of the test script will Uninstall the application from the system Run("C:\Windows\System32\control.exe appwiz.cpl") WinWait("Programs and Features") WinActivate("Programs and Features") Send("Application Name") Send("{Enter}") WinWait("Application Name box") WinActivate("Application Name box") Send("Ok") WinClose("Programs and Features") ;This part of the test script will be used to Install the application onto the system Run("C:\run the setup file") AutoItSetOption('MouseCoordMode',0) ; Used to set co-ordinate mode according to window WinWait('Application install') sleep(100) WinActivate('Application Install') Sleep(500) Send("Install") sleep(500) Thank You, sjaikumar

Developers Jos Posted February 17, 2016 Developers Share Posted February 17, 2016 There must be a "better" way of doing this when the application has an uninstaller available. Why not simply run it? sjaikumar
Apologies for posting incorrectly. Thank you for the help. MLipok SendKeepActive does not help me as it is not able to select and open the application from the "Programs and Features" menu which was happening when I used only send. Hence I am not able to make use of the return code of SendKeepActive for debugging. Jos I don't know how to find the path for where the uninstaller is located. I am only able to find it on the "Programs and Features" List entitled as "Application Name"
