avechuche
Hi, I'm trying to modify a key "REG_NONE" but I had no luck. If I use this code, it does not change anything. #include <WinAPIReg.au3> #include <String.au3> Local $sString = "Some value" Local $iBytes = 0 Local $hKey = _WinAPI_RegOpenKey($HKEY_CURRENT_USER , "Software\DownloadManager") ; LocalPathW have HEX value _WinAPI_RegSetValue($hKey, "LocalPathW", $REG_NONE, _StringToHex($sString), $iBytes) _WinAPI_RegCloseKey($hKey) But if $iBytes = 0, the record is changed, the value is deleted, but the value I want is not entered. InunoTaishou
Did you do any error checking to see where it's failing?

BrewManNH
$iBytes has to be the length of the data you're adding to the key in bytes, setting it to zero means add nothing and delete what's there. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. AutoBert
Try _WinAPI_RegSetValue($hKey, "LocalPathW", $REG_NONE, _StringToHex($sString), StringLen($sString)) Edited February 22, 2016 by AutoBert

I know, but the only way I modified the value is if I add a 0. Any other value does not change the record. 34 minutes ago, AutoBert said: Try _WinAPI_RegSetValue($hKey, "LocalPathW", $REG_NONE, _StringToHex($sString), StringLen($sString)) I tried this but it does not work _WinAPI_RegSetValue($hKey, "LocalPathW", $REG_NONE, _StringToHex($sString), StringLen($sString)) _WinAPI_RegSetValue($hKey, "LocalPathW", $REG_NONE, _StringToHex($sString), StringLen(_StringToHex($sString)))
BrewManNH
For a REG_NONE key, it seems that they're all zero-length binary value in the registry, at least all the ones that I was able to find. From further researching this, the value of a REG_NONE key isn't important, so you can put anything there and it will be ignored.
