Input box, change value on user click

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I am trying to update an Input box so that when the user clicks on it, or Sets Focus to it, the value changes to blank (""). I've done this in VBA using the OnFocus event handlers, does AutoIt have anything like this? Any other way to achieve my end goal? I've been searching around but cannot find anything.

Here is a screen cap of my form so you know what I am talking about...

Untitled.png

When the user clicks on the username field...

$i_userName = GUICtrlCreateInput("Email Address", 60, 128, 250, 29)

becomes....

$i_userName = GUICtrlCreateInput("", 60, 128, 250, 29)

Thanks in advance everyone!

Eric

What you're looking for is called a CUEBANNER

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Alright, so I got it to work. In the examples from @Melba23 and @Chimera they used

GUICtrlSendMsg(-1, $EM_SETCUEBANNER, True, $aInput[$i][1])

with the wParam as "True". I flipped that to "False" and now it seems to be working. I obviously have something flipped. I'll read through everything and see if I cannot figure it out. In the meantime, thanks so much @BrewManNH, Melba23, and Chimera!
