Intermittent error using IE.au3

OS: Windows Server 2008 R2

IE: 8.0

Issue #1 (intermittent)

Example function to start a website.

Func _startGoogle()
    _IEQuit($oIE)
    $url = "http://www.google.com"
    $oIE = _IECreate($url)
EndFunc

Steps to reproduce error

1. Run _startGoogle() function

2. IE opens to www.google.com

3. Manually close all IE windows

4. Run _startGoogle() function again

Error: the requested action for this object has failed. (Line $oObject.quit() on IE.au3 _IEQuit function)

  For $oInput In $oInputs
    If $oInput.type = "submit" Then
      _IEAction($oInput, "click")

  _IELoadWait($oIE)
  If StringInStr($oIEText, "Your Username or Password is invalid.", 0, 1) <> 0 Then

Steps to reproduce error

1. Run _login() function

2. IE opens to website, enters username and password 

Sometime it logs in perfectly fine.

Sometimes I get error: Variable must be type of "object". (Line For $oInput In $oInputs)

ISSUE #1:

Try this:

Func _startGoogle()
    Local $url = "http://www.google.com"
    Local $oIE = _IECreate($url)
    _IEQuit($oIE)
EndFunc

If you want to use _IEQuit($oIE) - you should first have create/attached $oIE object.

 

ISSUE #2:

Func _login()
    Local $oIE = _IECreate()
    Local $url = "http://www.website.com"
    _IENavigate($oIE, $url)
    
    Local $usernameInput = _IEGetObjByName($oIE, "userid")
    Local $passwordInput = _IEGetObjByName($oIE, "pwd")
    ....
    ....
    ....
    ....

_IENavigate() use internally _IELoadWait()

Issue #1 - can I use IsObj($oIE) to check if $oIE is an object variable before calling _IEQuit($oIE)? e.g.

Func _startGoogle()
    $url = "http://www.google.com"
    If IsObj($oIE) Then 
        _IEQuit($oIE)
        $oIE = _IECreate($url)
    Else
        _IENavigate($oIE, $url)
    EndIf
EndFunc

Issue #2 - according to AutoIt Help, _IECreate() also calls _IELoadWait() automatically

Is it Global ?

Ya same problem, but I've been using following code from your signature How to use IE.au3  UDF with  AutoIt v3.3.14.x

And seems to work fine fine so far, it allows the script to continue to run even there are errors from IE.au3

_IEErrorHandlerRegister(_User_ErrFunc)

I'm not sure, but try this:

        ; here is checking what the object name is
        ConsoleWrite( ObjName($oIE) & @CRLF)
        _IEQuit($oIE)
        $oIE = _IECreate($url)
    Else
        ; here is nonsens why you are trying to navigate on non object $oIE variable ?
        _IENavigate($oIE, $url)
    EndIf

Can you post console output with fixed code from post #9 ?
