Queener
$iIndex = 0 Do $iIndex += 1 $scode = IniRead($iniLoc, GUICtrlRead($inputName), "PayID" & $iIndex, "Error") Until $scode = "Error" $iIndex = $iIndex - 1 $reader = IniRead($iniLoc, GUICtrlRead($inputName), "PayID" & $iIndex+2, "") If $reader <> "" Then ;This tells me the there is a missing number ;STUCK Else MsgBox(0, "", "NONE") EndIf Let's say I have ini key 'PayID' more than 3. So it would be PayID1, PayID2, PayID3, PayID4, PayID5 If I delete PayID3 then later in the code; it won't display any PayID4 and PayID5 as well unless I code it manually. Is there a way to code if PayID3 is deleted then the data from PayID4 move down to PayID3 and PayID5 move down to PayID4? Or better yet if there's another way to work on this? Moderators Melba23 Posted July 30, 2016 Moderators Share Posted July 30, 2016 (edited) Queener, Looking at the ini format you posted earlier and which I assume you are still using, the easiest way might be to create another key in that section storinging the highest index used. Then you can just loop through that number of iterations and simply ignore any values that return an error. But if you are deleting entire parts of the ini file, be careful when entering a new index. The code I posted in that earlier thread will show you the first available index (i.e. the first "hole" in the list or just past the end of a complete consecutive run, but you must make sure that you do not simply overwrite the "highest index" value I suggested above - you will need to verify if it is indeed a new "highest" value" or just a "hole" in the existing run. I hope that is clear enough - please ask if you need a more detailed explanation. jchd
I stand by what have already been suggested in the other thread: that's a typically good use case for a database. Since it's currently based on .INI files I suppose there is only one user at a given time. In that case, SQLite would be a perfect match.
