codedetector
Hello, I am new to AutoIT. My question is HOW do I disable a hot key ? Thank You.
Moderators Melba23 Posted August 5, 2016 Moderators Share Posted August 5, 2016 codedetector, Welcome to the AutoIt forums. If the HotKey has been set by your code, then reusing HotKeySet without a defined function name will unset the HotKey. codedetector
Thank you for your reply. So, would it be for the Escape key: HotKeySet("{Esc}",) Thus omitting the function parameter "captureEsc" ? Thank You.
codedetector
OR, in a single key assignment: Send ("") ? (I did not want to add an extra thread, how do I re-edit the above thread please?) Thank you again.

You're close, but for starters: Did you check the helpfile for this information as it is answered there in an example. codedetector
Well, Did try the help file, could not find the right place. However GOOGLING I found this: 'So, to completely disable an hotkey set with HotKeySet function we need to NOT specify, always with HotKeySet function, the same key (previously used to call the final function) without any associated function:' HotKeySet(“E”,”_Ekey”) –> HotKeySet(“E”) So does this mean that for the Escape key it should be as following: HotKeySet ("Esc") ? Developers Jos Posted August 5, 2016 Developers Share Posted August 5, 2016 Try looking again in the helpfile for HotKeySet() as this very example is shown, but you need to scroll down and do more than just glance!
