Function to determine what's on the screen

Hi,

I am trying to create a function to ascertain what text is on the screen and do different things based upon the results.  I am using the ClipGet() and StringInStr commands to find out what's on the screen, but I do not know how to contain all this within a single function to then do other functions based on the result.  Example:

If text = hello-world then do functionA

If text = foobar then do functionB

If text = ruhroh then do functionC

At the moment there are three different functions I need to do based on the results, but this will most likely increase so I need it to be flexible with that in mind.

Any bright ideas?  Obviously I'm not a programmer by nature because from my very beginner experience in AutoIt I can sense there's a simple solution here but I'm struggling to search for the answer because I don't know what to search for! :)

weevil,

It sounds as if you are looking for a Switch structure - take a look in the Help file and see if you agree.

This looks like just the job, there's only a very simple example usage of Switch there but I'm thinking something like (this is pseudocode)

Switch Clipget()
    case hello-world
        functionA()
    case foobar
        functionB()
    case ruhroh
        functionC()
EndSwitch

Will this work?  I can then add additional cases and applicable functions when I need to expand?

Thanks!
