auto re size GUI content

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am having a little trouble with ‘GUICtrlSetResizing’ an hoping someone could push me in the direction of best practice.

I have a basic GUI created to a set size with the enabled abilities to resize it:

GUICreate("Test", 500, 450, -1, -1, BitOR($WS_SIZEBOX, $WS_MAXIMIZEBOX, $WS_MINIMIZEBOX))

Inside this I have an image and label:

GUICtrlCreateLabel($Image1StampInfo, 10, 395, 480, 20, $SS_CENTER)

GUICtrlCreatePic($TheImage, 25, 25, 450, 350)

Using:

Case ($GUI_EVENT_MAXIMIZE or $GUI_EVENT_RESTORE or $GUI_EVENT_RESIZED)

I activate:

GUICtrlSetResizing($TheImageBox, $GUI_DOCKAUTO)

GUICtrlSetResizing($Image1Stamp, $GUI_DOCKAUTO)

This works fine with the image but not with the label – the label after a bit of resizing seems to get stuck in different places in the GUI as if the $GUI_DOCKAUTO has not worked properly.

So 2 questions if I may.

1)    Have I used $GUI_DOCKAUTO incorrectly for use with lables?

2)    I am happy to manually set new sizes dynamically but how? I can get the size of the window with ‘WinGetPos()’ but how do I set new size parameters for the ‘label’ and ‘image’?

Thank you in advance.

I have tired with 'GUICtrlSetPos' but with the same result.  After playing around with the size of the GUI I eventually get as per attached.  I have also tried deleting the GUI and then re adding it each time instead of resizing it.  Cant see why this effect happens? Its like multiple windows are there in the wrong position overlaying one another?

Lights_On,

Give some runnable code which shows the problem and I will take a look - merely posting a bunch of snippets does not give us a lot with which to work.

Hi M23,

Your absolutely correct - apologies i should know better.

Please find below:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <GDIPlus.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
#include <StaticConstants.au3>

Call ("Viewer")

Func Viewer()
Local $TheViewer = GUICreate("Viewer", 500, 450, -1, -1, BitOR($WS_SIZEBOX, $WS_MAXIMIZEBOX, $WS_MINIMIZEBOX))

    Local $TheImage = @ScriptDir & "\9.jpg"
    Local $TheImageBox = GUICtrlCreatePic($TheImage, 25, 25, 450, 350)
    local $Image1StampFile = FileOpen(@ScriptDir & "\9.txt")
    local $Image1StampInfo = FileRead($Image1StampFile)
    FileClose($Image1StampFile)
    local $Image1Stamp = GUICtrlCreateLabel($Image1StampInfo, 25, 395, 450, 20, $SS_CENTER)
local $time = TimerInit()

GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
While 1

    Switch GUIGetMsg()
            Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
                ExitLoop

        Case ($GUI_EVENT_MAXIMIZE or $GUI_EVENT_RESTORE or $GUI_EVENT_RESIZED)
            GUICtrlSetResizing($TheImageBox, $GUI_DOCKVCENTER)
            GUICtrlSetResizing($Image1Stamp, $GUI_DOCKVCENTER)

        Case Else
            if TimerDiff($time) > 5000 Then
            local $Image1StampFile = FileOpen(@ScriptDir & "\9.txt")
            local $Image1StampInfo = FileRead($Image1StampFile)
            FileClose($Image1StampFile)
            local $Image1Stamp = GUICtrlCreateLabel($Image1StampInfo, 10, 395, 480, 20, $SS_CENTER)
            GUICtrlSetData($Image1Stamp, $Image1StampInfo)
            GUICtrlSetImage($TheImageBox, $TheImage)
            local $time = TimerInit()
            EndIf

    EndSwitch
WEnd
GUIDelete()

EndFunc

I have added 2 attachments that work with it.  Simply run then resize the box by dragging the sides over and over.  Eventual you see the issue discussed.

I simply seek for the image and label to move and resize dynamically.

Thank you.

Lights_On,

The problem arises because you are continually recreating the image and label controls at a specific place in the GUI. Just create them the once, setting theresizing at that point, and then merely reset the data they hold each time the 5 sec timer fires.

This runs for me with no problem:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
#include <StaticConstants.au3>

Viewer()

Func Viewer()
    Local $TheViewer = GUICreate("Viewer", 500, 450, -1, -1, BitOR($WS_SIZEBOX, $WS_MAXIMIZEBOX, $WS_MINIMIZEBOX))

    Local $TheImage = @ScriptDir & "\9.jpg"
    Local $TheFile = @ScriptDir & "\9.txt"
    Local $TheImageBox = GUICtrlCreatePic($TheImage, 25, 25, 450, 350)
    GUICtrlSetResizing($TheImageBox, $GUI_DOCKVCENTER) ; Set resizing as you create the control
    Local $Image1StampInfo = FileRead($TheFile)
    Local $Image1Stamp = GUICtrlCreateLabel($Image1StampInfo, 25, 395, 450, 20, $SS_CENTER)
    GUICtrlSetResizing($Image1Stamp, $GUI_DOCKVCENTER) ; Set resizing as you create the control
    Local $time = TimerInit()

    GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)

    While 1

        Switch GUIGetMsg()
            Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
                ExitLoop
        EndSwitch

        ; The time is independent of GUIGetMsg, so I would place its code outside of the Switch structure
        If TimerDiff($time) > 5000 Then
            ; And now just replace the content of the controls
            Local $Image1StampInfo = FileRead($TheFile)
            GUICtrlSetData($Image1Stamp, $Image1StampInfo)
            GUICtrlSetImage($TheImageBox, $TheImage)
            Local $time = TimerInit()
        EndIf

    WEnd

    GUIDelete()

EndFunc   ;==>Viewer

..and just like that my issue is fixed.  Thank you sir.  I had spent many hours in the last 48 trying to work this through. No luck.  Your explanation was clear and I understand your examples and explanation.  Thank you.

      First I would just like to say HELLO! to anyone reading. It has been a while since I've posted to the Forums but I'm always crawling around.
      Now to the matter at hand. I have been looking high and low for a simplistic answer my burned out brain can find but to no avail. I've only recently upped my AutoIt skill and only by a little bit such as ordering my script neatly with my own UDFs and using Global/Dim more often to make my GUI creation understandable and easy to keep things orderly. My current problem however is figuring out how to make my newest endeavor work which is my own "Debugger". I've made a GUI with an Edit Control to display what my Variables are holding and other information from a concurrently running Script. I have access to all of the scripts I'm attempting to connect but I'm dumbfounded on how I would separately read variable information from one running script into another. I'll provide my "Debugger" script that I want to read variables into and a "Meta Script" I'd want to pass info from.

Please forgive anything ignorant but point it out if you will, I'll take any pointers to get better! (I usually use a Select to get $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE but this is early on)
      Now if I made another script with a basic GUI similar to this and wanted to read say the GUI Width ($gMainW) into the Debugger Edit Control could I do it? If so, could I do it for every variable I have in a script? I read something about the Run function and adding the variables as an option parameter I believe which I think I could do with an array to keep it from being super long and ugly but would that be the only way to do this? Any information is going to be appreciated and thank you in advance for your time!

      Edit: Sadly it just dawned on me that I could make a UDF that will create a child window that will do this instead of having a separate script trying to invade another... I'll still be keeping an eye on this for any comments but I apologize if I wasted your time!

      Hello eveyone,
      I installed the latest version of Autoit (x86 - for greater compatibility) and SciTE.
      Every time I want to generate the GUI code designed in Koda, the program freezes (only Koda, not SciTE).
      Have you ever had this problem? Do you know how to fix it?
      Thanks!

      Hello,

      I found a couple of threads asking quite similar questions, but without finding a "straight" solution to Access the internal phone storage as well as the plugged in SD-Card.

      While the SD Card is quite an easy Job (shutdown phone, remove SD, plug into some Card Reader, Access it using a drive letter), the internal storage isn't accessible this way.

      Of course I *CAN* Access all the (regular visible) Content, when connected to a Windows box.

      But this way I cannot estimate, where all the space was eaten up. So I'd like to know, how to address the "root" Folder of the internal storage of my Android Phone to get it's subfolders and files. Going through the whole Folder tree recursively isn't my Problem, it's just howto address the very first Folder and then to read all files (with sizes) and names of the subfolders.

      Regards, Rudi.

      hello sirs, i've created a tool to the blind users, this tool helps the blind to listen to a audio effect when moving between the GUIs controls on they computers
      where this tool can get the class for the current focus control and play a sound from a folder
      i've added all the knowne classes, but i found some problems i hope any one can help me.
