Richedit Control Options

Recommended Posts

Two questions...

When presenting a form containing a richedit control, is there any way to make the displayed text, within said richedit control, non-selectable?

In addition, is there any way to hide the vertical line cursor, within said richedit control?

Thanx.

StMaSi,

WinSetState($hRichEdit, "", @SW_DISABLE) should do both for you.

Well, that does, in fact, disable the control, but the background now turns from white to grey and the text is greyed out as well. Is there a way to have the control disabled in this manner, but to restore the background and text color to what they were prior to disabling the control?

StMaSi,

How about a mask like this:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <GuiRichEdit.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>

Global $hGUI, $hGUI_Mask

Example()

Func Example()
    Local $hRichEdit, $iMsg

StMaSi,

No it does not, it only masks the RichEdit control - if it does more than that then you have messed up the sizing code. Please post what you are using and I will take a look.

Here's something a little simpler. I used this when I was working on a console application and wanted to use a rich edit

Creating a label over the area where the richedit control is and setting the label's backcolor to $GUI_BKCOLOR_TRANSPARENT

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <GuiRichEdit.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>

Global $hGUI

Example()

    GUICtrlSetBkColor($lblMask, $GUI_BKCOLOR_TRANSPARENT)
    $hRichEdit = _GUICtrlRichEdit_Create($hGui, "This is a test.", 10, 10, 300, 220, BitOR($ES_MULTILINE, $WS_VSCROLL, $ES_AUTOVSCROLL))
    _GUICtrlRichEdit_AppendText($hRichEdit, @CRLF & "This is more text")
    ; Prevent the richedit from being entered using the 'Tab' key
    _WinAPI_SetWindowLong($hRichEdit, $GWL_STYLE, BitAND(_WinAPI_GetWindowLong($hRichEdit, $GWL_STYLE), BitNOT($WS_TABSTOP)))

    $cButton = GUICtrlCreateButton("Test", 10, 300, 80, 30)
    ; Set the button to focus so the richedit control doesn't have focus (having focus would let someone type in it)
    GUICtrlSetState($cButton, $GUI_FOCUS)

    GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)

    While True
        $iMsg = GUIGetMsg()
        Select
            Case $iMsg = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
                _GUICtrlRichEdit_Destroy($hRichEdit) ; needed unless script crashes
                ; GUIDelete()   ; is OK too
                Exit
            Case $iMsg = $cButton
                ConsoleWrite("Hit" & @CRLF)

    WEnd

EndFunc   ;==>Example

InunoTaishou,

Great idea and much simpler than mine. I think I became fixated on using a child GUI because I had been working on one earlier on the day.

When utilizing the following two bits of code from InunoTaishou, the richedit control remains active (not greyed out) and the cursor is not flashing because the focus is on the label:

...
_WinAPI_SetWindowLong($RICHEDITCONTROL1, $GWL_STYLE, BitAND(_WinAPI_GetWindowLong($RICHEDITCONTROL1, $GWL_STYLE), BitNOT($WS_TABSTOP)))
...
GUICtrlSetState($LABEL1, $GUI_FOCUS)
...

However, the richedit control is still selectable...a user can click into it, which exposes the cursor and/or double-click into it and highlight text within. Short of utilizing individual labels for the information that would be contained within one richedit control, is there no other way to "lock down" (for lack of a better term) the richedit control, but avoid disabling it (the graying out)?

Thanx again for all your help, peeps.

Really? I have just been trying to do just that and I cannot get at the RichEdit at all. How did you manage it?

      hello evrybody
      here is an example about how to split your texts using a delimiter with the ability to select how much of delimiters shows in each colum  with $i_number
      e.g
      you have a long text and you want to split it in an array
      that evry colum have a number (n) of lines
      i made a function that do that for you
      just call it with a three params
      $s_text
      your text
      $i_number
      the number that you want to put in each col
      $s_siparator
      the siparator
      default is "|"
      here is the function with example
      i hope that it will be useful for you

      ****

      #include <Array.au3> $s_txt = "some text1some text2|some text3|some text4|some text5|some text6" $array = splitText($s_txt, 2) _ArrayDisplay($array) Func splitText($s_text, $i_number, $s_siparator = "|") Local $a_TXT = StringSplit($s_text, $s_siparator) Local $a_Return[$a_TXT[0] + 1] If ($a_TXT[0] <= $i_number) Or ($i_number <= 0) Then ReDim $a_Return[2] $a_Return[0] = 1 $a_Return[1] = $s_text Return $a_Return EndIf Local $i_Processed = 1, $i_arrayProcessed = 1 Do For $i = $i_Processed To ($i_Processed + $i_number) - 1 If ($a_TXT[0] < $i) Then ExitLoop If Not ($a_Return[$i_arrayProcessed]) Then $a_Return[$i_arrayProcessed] = $a_TXT[$i] Else $a_Return[$i_arrayProcessed] &= $s_siparator & $a_TXT[$i] EndIf $i_Processed += 1 Next $i_arrayProcessed += 1 Until ($a_TXT[0] < $i_Processed) ReDim $a_Return[$i_arrayProcessed] $a_Return[0] = $i_arrayProcessed - 1 Return $a_Return EndFunc ;==>splitText
      accept my greetings
      thanks to
      @Dan_555

      Hey there!
      I'm gonna try to get access to an RichEdit Control in PSPad with Autoit which is scripted with Delphi. I wrote the commands out ouf the RichEdit.au3 UDF to can change them, because it always fails or crashs, when i call it. I Just want to set the Textcolor for the RichEdit.
      It seems to be a Problem with $EM_SETCHARFORMAT... (maybe protected?) I can use e.g. $EM_SETBKGNDCOLOR or other messages with no error. Sadly it doesn't exist a message constant to just set the textcolor... This is what i already tried:
      use $EM_GETCHARFORMAT but it crashs/doesn't work too. I saw the riched20.dll is linked to GDI+ but i couldn't make something work with it... (GetDc and so on but maybe there is another way?) Tried to set some other style on it (setWindowLong) I read the MSDN about $EM_SETCHARFORMAT up and down, but i can't find any other solution.
      The RichEdit should be version 2 ( error message point to riched20.dll )

      Here is the PSPad that will be required for testing:
      https://autoit.de/wcf/attachment/87712-pspad4autoit3-v1-0-0-beta-without-setup-zip/
      You need to start PSPad.exe first!

      hello autoit team
      please i've a question for you.
      am creating a audio player
      and in this audio player i want to show the current trac info
      such as the total time and the position ... etc
      i know i can show it as label
      but the screen reader for the blind read the text every change
      because it have a screen scan
      what i want is to show this informations but such image or icon
      i mean i need to create
      GUICtrlCreatepic or GUICtrlCreateicon ....
      or some thing as that
      and show this informations as image on it
      i think that i can do that with the
      _GDIPlus functions
      but i couldn't find the currect way to do it
      i tried the _GDIPlus_GraphicsDrawString
      but i couldn't know how it work
      what i need is a small example that create a GUI
      and add a multy line text to it as graphic or image.
      so i need a simple way because it will changed every sec
      i hope any one can help me to do that
      global $GUI = GUICreate("text", 400, 400) global $label = GUICtrlCreateLabel(GetText(), 10, 10, 380, 380) GUISetState() do sleep(100) until GUIGetMSG() = -3 exit func GetText() return StringFormat("file name is test.mp3 \r\n total time is 00:30:00 \r\n position is 00:05:50") endFunc

      This UDF allows to create formatted label using pseudo element RichLabel (RichEdit actually). Formating is set by using special modificator similar to <font> tag in Html.
      Notes: This UDF is a transformation-continuation of related UDF

      Example:
      Download:
      GUIRichLabel_1.2.zip
      Small syntax related fix: GUIRichLabel_1.1.zip
      GUIRichLabel_1.1.zip
