WHAT : is .NET Common Language Runtime (CLR) Framework

The Common Language Runtime (CLR) is a an Execution Environment . Common Language Runtime (CLR)'s main tasks are to convert the .NET Managed Code to native code, manage running code like a Virtual Machine, and also controls the interaction with the Operating System.

As part of Microsoft's .NET Framework, the Common Language Runtime (CLR) is managing the execution of programs written in any of several supported languages. Allowing them to share common object-oriented classes written in any of the languages.

HOW : To access the CLR environment you need to create an Appdomain Object - _CLR_GetDefaultDomain()

An AppDomain provides an isolated region in which code runs inside of an existing process.

Application domains provide an isolation boundary for security, reliability, and versioning, and for unloading assemblies. Application domains are typically created by runtime hosts, which are responsible for bootstrapping the common language runtime before an application is run.

Regarding your other question. Not sure with this initial version we hope to get more people interested in checking the huge possibilities.

Its not completely clear what you mean

  • Running C#/VB .NET forms and call AutoIt functions  --> Yes, possible
  • Running AU3 forms and integrating .NET UI controls  --> I do not know never seen in unmanaged hosting visual .NET controls

I see they have an ActiveX version of their component that certainly should work (but then this UDF is offcourse not needed)

I just check this example: ".NET GUI Form Controls & Events.au3"
And I'm curious if I will be able to run this NET component and use them to processing some files, as my clients use some CRM product which operating is based on templates ceated in this control.
I can read this templates by using RichEdit but can not processing them with RichEdit because this templates will lost some properties in this kind of processing.
So I need to use TX Text Control.

As to ActiveX version there is liitle problem with "licensing" as this is possible to use in C++ and VB but not with AutoIt, you can read about here:

As I need to do simple file processing with this NET component I was curiuos if it will be possible to use this UDF with this specyfic NET component.

I hope my answer is complex to your question, and now this is clear what I was meant.

I do not know the component in itself (it looks like a visual ui control)  but it seems to have a .NET API for programming

The following is possible with the UDF

1. Build a C# class (see examples or https://www.autoitscript.com/forum/topic/187334-using-net-libary-with-autoit-possible/?do=findComment&comment=1350523) in C# with plain notepad (i would advice to do it in visual studio) as a wrapper around your AutoIt
see .NET Code Compiler.au3 example

2.  compile C# wrapper on the fly and control from your AU3 code

Not sure why you then would want to control it from AutoIt as then you have to write a big part in C#

mLipok, The error in line 464 in CLR.au3 is at the part of the code where the XPTable.dll assembly is loaded. Maybe the code doesn't like special polish characters in the path. Can you try to copy the zip file to C:\Windows\Temp or similar and extract the file there and execute the script.

The .NET version can be a problem. XPTable.dll in the zip dated 2007-06-18 requires .NET v1.1 but can be run both as 32 and 64 bit code.

XPTable.dll dated 2011-11-08 as you can download here requires .NET v2.0 and can only be run as 32 bit code.
