XML to Array

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just started with the XML stuff and here is what I want to do. Get a XML from the server and display the Parent/ child nodes in a MsgBox.
Tried to use _XMLSelectNodes to get an array but some nodes have data in them and I don not now how to "take them apart", yet.
I bet  I did something wrong, however I the wrote the following code to get the Node count and go from there.... learning step by step :-)

Code:

#include <_XMLDomWrapper.au3>
#include <File.au3>
Local $oReceived, $xmlFile

Global $oXML = ObjCreate("Microsoft.XMLHTTP")
$oXML.Open("GET", "http://www.hamqsl.com/solarxml.php", 0)
$oXML.Send

local $xmlfile = FileOpen("solarstatus.html", 2)    ; The value of 2 overwrites the file if it already exists
FileWrite($xmlfile, $oXML.responseText)             ; write the solarstatus xml
FileClose($xmlFile)

If _XMLFileOpen($xmlFile) Then
         ConsoleWrite($oXML.responsetext & @LF)     ;Show XML data in console
         $fields = _XMLGetNodeCount(@ScriptDir&"\solar.xml","")
         MsgBox(64,"Fieldnumber","Fields: "&$fields)
      Else
         MsgBox(16, "","Something went wrong!"&@CRLF&"File solar.xml not found.")
EndIf

FileDelete($xmlFile)

MsgBox shows -> Fields: -1 and I know the download from the server worked and there should be more fields. (see console output)

The XML is requested from www.hamsql.com and temp. stored as solardata.xml. It is a useful info for HAM operators and looks like this:

XML:

Why is fields -1 ?  I found _XMLSelectNodes in the XML DOM wrapper and I think that would do the job. Just not sure. Is there a manual for that UDF?
Any help to get that XML into an Array is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
