Manage gmail via http

Recommended Posts

Hi,

The goal is to have a little more control over with the gmail API https://developers.google.com/gmail/api/v1/reference/users/threads/get?authuser=1

So far this post by Danyfirex gives some hope on how to start going about it

This seems to be a good and easy method but the feed doesn't always contain the last reply\ies to a thread , mostly shows the body text of the first ones ..not always
I hope someone who has the experience and knows how to deal with this and can give something on how this can be done properly ..

TIA

As I see it the first step is to I.e. connect the account through an authorization with Google's OAuth 2.0 server using https://developers.google.com/oauthplayground/
Choosing the gmail API with the first option in step 1
Then in step 2 once clicking on Exchange authorization code for tokens it will produce a Request / Response protocol summary with a link button "URL to initialize the playground with the current configuration"
What can I use to test the connection on from this point using scite ?
And of course would like to know of any suggestions: how to go about Implementing this

TIA

You'll have to trust IE for everything. Be ready for everything.

In order to show the OAuth request window, you can use _IECreateEmbedded for example, to add a IEFrame to your GUI.

Get the token on the page with _IEBodyReadText/IEBodyReadyHTML (be ready for some parsing/regex).

After it, with the token in hands, you get more free to send the requests.

The example by Danyfirex is a little different and more basic than what you need, as it uses the read-only and simple atom feed, which is very useful for keeping track of new emails, but not for having a full control. You'll really have to go through the API. Unfortunately, Google's docs aren't as amazing as Facebook docs, for example, but if you have some experience with RESTful and OAuth, although with a bit of work, you'll handle it.
