Store Word Document in Autoit Gui

Recommended Posts

Hello

Is there anyway to store word documents in Autoit GUI? For example I have a instruction sheet that I want to bundle up with the exe.

So a user simply clicks the icon and the stored document will launch  (Something like how you can add objects like excel sheets in word documents )

(I Know we can launch word files from script directory)

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

As BrewMan mentions, FileInstall if you want to simply include the Word Doc with your script. If you meant actually embedding it in your GUI for reading, I used to use something like this:

#include <GUIConstants.au3>

$file = @DesktopDir & "\Test.doc"
$oWordDoc = ObjGet($file)

If IsObj($oWordDoc) then
    GUICreate ( "Embedded Object Test", 800, 300)
    $GUI_ActiveX = GUICtrlCreateObj($oWordDoc, 10, 10, 780 , 280 )
    GUISetState ()

    While 1
        $msg = GUIGetMsg()
        Select
            Case $msg = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
                ExitLoop
        EndSelect
    Wend

    GUIDelete ()
EndIf

Be forewarned the ribbon plays havoc with viewing if the GUI is too small

Thanks !
As I understand it this will install soem specific files to a location specified (something like a setup)

My aim is to embed the file in the tool itself and open it up on user click. (it should not be stored as a seperate file in the script directory)

Thanks But this uses a file stored in a location right? As I understand this code, it basically launches test.doc from desktop when user click in gui

Is there any way that you can embed the file in the GUI itself.

You can with a combination: Use FileInstall to include the file with your executable, then embed it.

Ok so you suggest everytime the script launches, Fileinstall adds the  word file to script location, the user can then click and launch it from the  script location using the GUI.

IF the GUI closes the the file then gets deleted too

Something like that?

nope, FileInstall("source", "dest" [, flag = 0]) will dump/write/copy the file to a destination.
If you wanna remove it, you'll have to write a line of code to do so.

      I have provided a portion of my script (seen below) and I wanted to use what the USER will input into my IP address box and input box for TCP port. I set the IP address to use 0.0.0.0 as default and the Port to 502. But I want to let the user change it and when they click the buttons (IP Address and Port), the tooltip will show what the USER entered. How can I use the details that the User will input into my input box and IP address box and let them see what they entered when they click the buttons?

      So I am a person who has learned programming off the internet, without structured courses, and I'm trying to create a UI element that can be used like "GUICtrlCreate...".

      I'd like to get some kind of insight on how to improve the code of a Graph element that I have created.
      I am unfamiliar on the standards for creating such UI elements, and assume I'll get some valuable insight here.

      Here's some sample code: (I tried to make it look a bit less upsetting to those who know better, but be warned: not pretty.)

      I check this snippet:
      https://www.autoitscript.com/wiki/Snippets_(_GUI_)#GUI_With_Scrollable_TabItem
      Modified them and I refactored. That's because I needed to adapt it to my needs (I'll write later).
      I thought I understood how it works.
      But I was wrong.

      I have few problems with this code, and many question related to them.
      Question 1:
      How to make the Scrollbars to work ?
      I mean to scroll buttons.
      Question 2:
      Do I must to ues Child Window, or is it possible to scroll buttons without using Child Window ?
      Question 3:
      Why after uncommenting this following line:
      ;~ _GUIScrollBars_SetScrollRange($hChild, $SB_VERT, 3, 30) the ScrollBar disapears ?

      Hey guys!
      I just started working with the GUI yesterday and it has only brought more fun to the Autoit adventure
      Basically I have a GUI windows that opens and based on the selection of the combo box the button will do something different. This specific scenario I am talking about the Client Update Verification  combo selection. When selected and the button is pressed my second gui window opens. As of now if I only paste comp1 or comp2 by itself it works correctly, but if I paste both, it has a fit.
      What would the correct way to do this be? Any help or examples, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance

      Hello,

      so I have started to learn to use the Word UDF and got issue to add my pictures after exact paragraphs. I was searching in the forum for the solution, checked with examples and still I don't understand how to add pictures after paragraph in new line.

      My word document has like 8 pages and for example on page I have paragraph named "My examples:" and here starts my problem.

      I have tried to do this:
      #include <Word.au3> Local $oWord = _Word_Create() Local $oDoc = _Word_DocOpen($Word, @ScriptDir & "\examples.docx", Default, Default, True) $oSearchRange = _Word_DocRangeSet($oDoc, -1, $wdParagraph, 0) $oRangeFound = _Word_DocFind($oDoc, "My examples:", $oSearchRange) _Word_DocPictureAdd($oDoc, @ScriptDir & "\pic1.jpg", Default, Default, $oRangeFound) And here the picture adds before the paragraph My examples: on same line and looks like
      {pic1}My Examples:

      What I want to see is:
      My examples:
      {PICTURE IN NEW LINE} which is pic1.jpg from my code.

      How I can do that? I want to add 3 pictures in a row in new line each like:
      My examples:
      {pic1.jpg}
      {pic2.jpg}
      {pic3.jpg}

      Hope I explained this well, but you can ask me if you need any additional information to clarify.
