Dynamic Creation of controls

Hello to all, my problem is to have in the same gui buttons (static and dinamically generated ones) and an edit control.

The gui also adjust its height in function of button number.

Below you see an ugly interface and the long buttons at the bottom are dinamically generated reading from a txt file.

Because I have "static" buttons and dynamically generated ones it's not workin' well your method, also the EDIT area is updated (is a live log) and this is detected as GUI events, and this makes the guigetmsg() "dirty".

Have you any ideas to make it work in better way ?  I only think about creating two different GUIs to not interfere one with the other one.

@t0nZ you should have listened to your instincts. Reopening a thread after 4 years is not the way to ask for help. Even if you are having the same problem, you are more likely to receive help starting your own thread rather than hijacking someone else's.

Also, as AutoIt has grown and changed in 4 years, what worked then may not work now (or there may be better ways of accomplishing the same thing), another reason to let sleeping threads lie.

some general aspects to create a dynamic GUI:

  • size and position the GUI and its controls using variables
  • calculate fixed element's height to add them to the required GUI size
  • position controls using relative positioning
  • use an 2D-array to handle control content and control handles

Hi  @rudi, your solution is very interesting.

But it doesn't solve my real problem.

I have slightly modified your example, adding a guictrlEDIT (also dynamic managed) but my problem is near the end , the line 

GUICtrlSetData($edit1, $iValueToWorkWith & " pressed" & @CRLF, 1)

writes in the edit control the user input, but writing in the same edit triggers another input, how can I avoid this ???

Maybe I don't have to use the edit control ? Alternatives ?

Place your $edit1 outside of the $iStart and $iEnd, otherwise its going to return both the control id you're using and also the $edit1 control (since you're writing to this id).

      This roundup of "virtual keyboards" (https://www.buttoncommander.com/en/input-devices/difference-between-hotkeyboard-devices-and-keyboard-devices/) inspired me to create this simple "LaunchPad" script.
      with this script you can easily create panels with buttons for starting programs, but not only, you can also associate macros, shortcuts, functions with the buttons ...
      In short, the $aTools 2D array contains the settings that determine the behavior of each "Button",  namely 4 parameters for each row (for each button);
      [n][0] the tooltip of the button
      [n][1] path of an icon or a file containing icons
      [n][2] the number of the icon (if the previous parameter is a collection)
      [n][3] AutoIt command(s) to be executed directly on button click (or also the name of a function)
      (see the script for some examples of use)
      If you have ideas for new records for that array you are encouraged to post it here (thanks)
      You can easily change the buttons dimensions and the shape of the initial deck by changing the  $iStep and  $iNrPerLine variables in the script (deck is resizeable as well)

      Often I need to create a panel to monitor a lot of things (users, files, items etc) so I use this piece of code to create a dynamic grid of buttons.
      The number of buttons is variable, and it's related to the size of the gui, the size of the buttons and the distance between buttons.
      Every "button" is a set of three with a real button stacked on the top of two labels, imagine reading a .CSV file or an array or a database and displaying all the things using the labels (Text and COLOR too) and clickin' on the relative button you can call further info on the item or call a particular function.
      So you can decide the number of the buttons, the width of the buttons, and also the distance  between buttons.
      It's quick and dirty, simple  and very improvable (I know..) so fell free to play with the code.

      Hello I got problem with my form cause i got some buttons, labels, inputs and now i want organize this in tabs.
      There is a problem, when i put new tab this tab is on bottom and this is above my buttons or button is show on whole form , not only in one tab.
      How to deal with it
